Last Wednesday I had to put my white, 12 year old Sassycat to sleep because of invasive brain tumors all about her head. She had them for some time without problems, but then these last few months they had spread like wild fire and interfered with her sight, hearing and then swallowing. She lost a lot of weight and her once adorable Mee-yew became rustic and hoarse. We had a cryfest the night before the apointment at the cat and doh hospital and then again once we buried her in our pet cemetary in our back yard.
Has anyone had to put their pet to sleep recently?

I am sorry to hear about your little kitty. I have never had to put a pet to sleep yet, but I had bought a dog for my husband while we were dating. Once we married my in-laws were so attatched to the dog that we let them keep her.
Well, she got old and feeble and had many health problems. It got so bad and she was suffering. My father-in-law called me to ask me what he should do. I told him to go ahead and have her put down. It was very hard for me too, however he lives in another state far away so he was the one who had to take her to the vet to have it done.
He cried and so did I. My husband did not want a part in it because he loved that dog so much. So, as the mommy in the family I once again had to suck it up and be the person in charge and make that decision.
It sucked, but you don't want them to suffer.
I know it is hard. Hang in there and remember the good times and know that she is in a better place now and not suffering.
Have a good day and happy myLotting!!!

My deepest sympathies for the loss of your furry baby. I know how deeply it hurts, and that you will feel the sorrow for a while. I still feel tears when I think of my Bubba. He was a 17 yr old Siamese I had to have put to sleep in 99, because his kidneys failed long before his spirit.
There is an old proverb I learned once... can't remember where it's from.
Shared Joy is Double Joy. Shared Sorrow is Half Sorrow.
Just remember that the joy she brought, and that her memories bring is doubled for having shared it with her, and the sorrow you feel is half for we all share it with you.
Namasté.
May Bast Bless your Home again soon.

I am sorry to hear that. I don't expect the cat can also have such a disease.
Wish the cat will be happy in paradise

I have had this experience many times. I assure you you did the right thing. It was painful, but at least you can understand why you are in pain. Your fur-baby could not. It took great strength. Only one who has been there knows the sick feeling of walking out of the vets office without them, knowing they will not be there when you get home. All the little rituals you two had suddenly ended. There are heartless folks in the world who would make fun of us but forget them.
You did right by her. Because of your selflessness, she doesn't have to suffer. Keeping her alive would have been cruel to her.
Consider that you were lucky to have had her at all. She was a blessing for a time which you probably deserved.
I commend your strength. That took guts.

I'm so sorry you had to lose your much loved cat. I know just how you feel. I have 7 cats, 3 dogs. I haven't had to put any down for several years, but I have three right now I'm worried about. My oldest cat (she is 12) is losing weight and apparently has lost her teeth at some point. I didn't even realize it until I noticed the weight loss. I've now switched her to canned food, but I'm still concerned and may have to take her to the vet if she doesn't improve. I am also currently treating a cat with antibiotics for a reoccuring urinary infection. She is 9 and will NOT use a litter box - even when its clean. I may have to have her put down. And lastly, my dog Shiloh who was born with a couple of birth defects. The vet told me he would live to be 5 to 7 years old and he just turned 7 this year. His health seems to be getting worse.
I know its hard to lose pets, and I hate to think I may lose several all at once. I know what it is to cry over a lost pet, and I hope it gets easier for you soon.

Aw i know how it feels years ago i had to put my siamese mix cat to sleep i cry uncontrollably for the hole day i loved her so much and years later i had another of my beloved cats pass away and that was 3 years ago and i was so close to her i know this probably sounds strange but i had such a strong connection with her that when ever i thought about her and she was in the next room she would immediately come running and i still felt her precnec after she was gone she fallowed me every were when she was alive and i dreamed about her for 3 days after she passed, its sad when you lose a pet and some people dont understand the bonds we form with our pets, all i can say is it will get better with time and maybe some day when your ready you may get a new kitty, i now have wonderful cat but it took time to deal with the others passing.

Yeah Bee1955,
I havent put my pet to sleep recently but i have had put my dog asleep 5 years ago. I was really startled and sad that it was coming to an end, my dog had cancer and didnt use one of his legs and just looked miserable. So we decided to put it asleep and out of his misery.

I'm sorry to hear that you had to put your cat to sleep. I had my cat just die of old age a few years back. I still have his ashes in an urn in my home. Can't seem to part with them and bury him yet. Keep you head up.

Yes I had to put my beautiful Smokey to sleep a few years ago, I had her for 17years and it was the hardest thing I had ever had to do, booking the appoinment to the vet the day before knowing deep down thingd were not good, I was told she had kidney failure and i had to hold her while the vet gave her the injections, I cried for a long time, I still miss that little cat we had been through a lot in the 17years we spent together....

I'm sorry to hear about your Sassycat. I have been fortunate lately in that I haven't had to put any of mine to sleep. There are chances that some of our older ones are declining, but so far they are doing all right.
Our oldest is a black cat named Sassy, we got her 7 years ago and were told she was 10 then. She's a fiesty old thing and doesn't let the kittens get in her face, but she's so sweet.
I know its hard, and when your ready another baby will come with cats feet into your heart.

I'm so very sorry about your Sassycat. Sometimes this is the kindest thing you can do for them. We had to do this many times and it always hurts. She is now at the Rainbow Bridge, playing in the grass and chasing butterflies. She will wait for you until it's time for you to be together again. In the meanwhile, she will live in your heart forever.

Bee1955, Saddly I know what you had been suffering; Watching your baby decline. Knowing that if life does not take matters on it's hands, YOU will have make the most Awful decision you can imaging, and ACTUALLY carry on with your decision it is the hardest thing to do even when your Knowledge is telling you, IT WAS THE RIGHT THING TO DO!
Last February 14 We had to say good bye, to our most dearest baby cat, Gipsy she was 21 years old, It was Our last act of Love tors her! I won't lie still hurts and I keep her picture every where, makes me feel a bit better. Like you, we have her in her home yard.
Because her age, time gain on us and her brain also fail. Thanks God, this was a process of a couple of days, so her suffering was not prolonged, Neither will we allow it, There was no Hope!
Keep attention to your dreams, it is so comforting when you get to hug them once again, at least in your dreams it feels so real!
My blessings to you and your family.
