Secret of your name????

I know what my name actually means...but people often mistake it for a commonly understood meaning. My name 'Sandhya' actually means the joining of two yugas...but people generally thinks it means 'twilight' or 'dusk' (which is also the time of union of two yugas). I was born at dawn (Usha Sandhya time) but I wasn't named because of that. I doubt if my parents themselves knew that is what Sandhya meant ...when I was born. My dad and his friends had picked a lot and Sandhya was the only reasonable name that came up..the rest were Chinky, Pinku kind of names and I'm glad my parents didn't name me any of those. But for both my kids, we came up with very meaningful names based on their birth.

I have never found out what my name means but there is a funny story about how i got my name. My father wanted to name me fanny jane and my mom said there was no way in hell she was having a daughter named fanny. So there was a little bit of a compromise. My mother told me that during the time that she was pregnant with me, she was an activist and that is why she named me our country.
