I am a lover of football or soccer as some prefer to call and of course I have many footballers whom I greatly admire, the list is endless however, I have managed to follow the career of David Beckham over the past couple f years especially after his mouth watering contract with the galaxy football club in the United states. I can’t stop asking myself if he is really supposed to be in the sport of football or just retire and go into modeling, I have not known of any footballer who have had as much spotlight on him as this guy and recently I watched him on TV as he was
Presented with the Choice Male Athlete award at the Teen Choice awards in California. Does anyone here share my view? To think that he ahs made more headlines in the sports of Hollywood glamour than he has done on the pitch in recent times.

i would agree that he made a big and illustrious fame in the states right now but that is what and who david beckham is. he is a footballer with a face and looks of a model. he is gracious in how he brings himself in the public. i wouldn't say that he is slacking on the field, he is just slow right now but that doesn't mean he can't play anymore. he is slow in the sense that he has been into so many injuries, and if you noticed him while he's still with real madrid. he had a superb exit with real and his last minutes in the club, he gave his best to get what he needed, a championship in spain. he played even he is in pain and even deliver his trademark kick in many instances. with his present situation with the galaxy, he is just cautious considering how big the contract he signed with them and it's still his second season and 3 more to go. so there are two things right now that is possibly happening, one, he is doing what a businessman should do or instruct him to do. people love to see him in the field, arena admissions dramatically change for the galaxy since beck arrived. so who would want not to be happy seeing him kicking those ball all the time? that's two birds already at one time. second, even he want to force himself to play like he used to be, his body is just taking the toll already from more than 17 years of playing football.

i know he is a good footballer but if you have followed his career especially since he arrived in the U.S, he seemed to have assumed the role of a model, becoming the face ofmany designers

david bekham is a very good player, no doubt. but of late it seems that he himself has forgotten that he is a footballer. he seems to place himself as a pop star than a sportsman. i think this change has come more after his relation with the 'posh spice' victoria.

hhahahahah!i really dont want to admit that he forgot he is a soccer star instead of a pop star though it seems that his marriage to posh has really opened him up to lifestyle in hollywood maybe he only needs to get some of these things out of his head

Do I think Becham is a good footballer - In all likelihood - Yes!
But I was hugely disappointed when he moved to LA Galaxy because for me it was more a commercial move more than anything else. A move that made him even more rich and comfortable to hang out with his Hollywood buddies.
As a soccer fan it was very disappointing to see him concentrating more on modeling as you said, but I totally understand his move too.
He has killer looks and can earn more money in a day than what I can in a year just by flashing his underwear. So he is smartly doing just that and earning big bucks.
The answer to your question will thus be both with his concentration more focused on the modeling aspect for now.
I still feel and hope that we see some more of the awesome free kicks and crosses from his gifted right foot. It is a brilliant spectacle when he does well, so as a fan I definitely want to see more of him. And quite frankly it is irritating for me to see him on billboards and not scoring goals or providing assists. I would definitely prefer to see him more on the football field before he retires which is coming soon I am sure.

Yes i thik David beckham it become not a football player but just a marketing animal!!In reality it is good player but i don't admire him too much.in fact i don't like the player model he want spread from himself and so i used to not consider as positive the activity of Beckham!!I think the good results in sports can be considered and remembered even when an athlete stop their carrer but that one linked to sponsor ,image or hollywood fake model will stay up for a time and afterthat nobody remember about them!!so becks choose these one and i think this is just agreat example as sports and especially football is becoming not a game but a business or marketing affairs!!
