We have alot of medical debt due to having 2 children with diseases. And I have to say that I think that what medical institutes charge is a little over the top. I mean just to see a regular physician (not a specialist) costs us around $125. And they hardly do anything. I can kind of understand the specialists charging more because of what they do but some of the other costs in the hospital and things I think are outrageous. For example I remember when son was born (moons ago as he is 18) the hospital charged us $2.25 for a baby comb. Kid didn't even have hair!! And they charged $10 for a rectal thermometer. We could have gone to a dollar store and got a comb or brought our own.
I personally think that something needs to be done about healthcare. Just my ranting and raving for today.

They are nothing but price gougers. I was in the hospital and couldn't even get a nurse! I had to go through an Aid, andother Aid then a Tech and then, if I still demanded, I'd get a really rude RN. A single
dose of liquid Tagamet was $39! I could have gotten a full bottle of generic for that! I could go on, but I was just in physical therapy and they charge $299 for a visit - about 1,1/4 hours while I do the work on my own!! My allergy doctor charges $80 for a visit to get shots and I am in and out in about 2 minutes. Plus $150 for the shots!
They charge it cause they can get it, but then complain when we can't pay their huge bill and have to file BK or die cause we can't afford them anymore.

Yep - they got a captive audience and they know it. I went ot a hospital and was told by my insurance company (after the fact, of course) that that hospital is not in their network and they won't allow that hospital to be in their network as that hospital price gouges on their rates and the insurance won't put up with that "for their members". I was having brain surgery for heaven sake...and I was supposed to go shop prices instead of capable doctors?
