Knife crime

This evening on one of the high streets in London, a woman who was at a cash machine stabbed a man because she alleged that he was paying undue attention to her child. Apparently this man has a history of accosting women and children at that very same cash machine.
Should the woman have stabbed him or should she have reported it and let the law take its course? Bear in mind that the wheels of justice turns very slowly and that the said man might have assaulted other people if he was bailed out of police custody and anyway because the woman has used what is termed "unreasonable force" she might be in custody and her child may now be in the hands of social services.

What I'm most curious about is what was a man who's got a history of attacking women and children doing out on the street in the first place? Obviously he's not rehabilitated if he's stalking his old crime scenes. People like this never get over their sickness, instead they feed on it.
Women need to follow their gut reactions instead of just ignoring them and trying to be nice. She felt this man was a threat to her and her child. Good for her for doing something about it! It's sad that justice would prefer her to be attacked first and then act upon it in a "reasonable" fashion.
Now maybe her carrying a knife was illegal..but I'm betting anything she's thanking god she had it.

It's sad to think that if the witnesses had reported him steaking out his old crime scene, then maybe none of this wouldn't have even happened. It's frustrating to know that many people just stand back and don't do anything to protect others.

It would depend on the facts of the case. If the guy was only making her feel uncomfortable, then no, but if he actually attacked her, then she was fully justified in using force to defend herself and her child. Of course thanks to our insane pro-criminal laws, she'll still be in trouble for carrying a weapon.
