Too dumb to answer?

I often see some of the posts that people make on here and it is so obvious that they are playing the numbers game, because the questions or what they consider discussions are so dumb and with merit.
It really pisses me off because that same person not only has one stupid post but as if they say "let's see how many dumb questions I can come up with in 10 minutes". As a result of you have to go thru pages to find a decent conversation.
I am writing this post because someone here was asking in a discussion how GOOD it would be to have a pill for each meal? They thought it would be GOOD that we would not have to have fruit or vegatables transported! How GOOD it would be that we would not have to worry about drivers or fuel etc. I was thinking ok, did you really put any thought into your typing...lol..what happens to all of the jobs associated with? Restaurants, farmers, warehouse workers, freight companies, cafeterias, schools, I could go on forever! Can you even imagine how many families would be affected as a result of?
Maybe mylot should have a standardized test to make sure you are at least smarter than a 5th grader! Does this aggrevate you since even if you are here for the money, I am sure you would like to at least have a worthy discussion?

You are right...I've been noticing that myself too, that some discussions that had been put up here were not really meant to have an intelligent discussion but just to pump up the number (posting) of the person who started them. But then again, there is a freedom of speech here in mylot and equal opportunities and rights as well. If there are some who loves starting those so-called dumb discussions and there are some who actually responds to them...so be it. We were given "brains" to use, to be able to seggregate each topic and discussions according to how we perceive them and how important we think of them....let's just use our brains accordingly and not waste time on those what we think are just clearly that...waste of time. If you're getting annoyed over the fact that you have to go through pages just to be able to find one interesting discussion that might catch your attention, might as well just start one yourself...how's that for an idea???

I do share the frustration of wading through pointless and dumb discussions. Although, it's funny, but the very arguments you have against the discussion you referenced tells me that a pretty worthy discussion could be generated out of it. The very fact that you found opposing arguments that could be debated says a lot.
I think worse than a discussion built on a possibly outrageous premise (I haven't read that particular one, and I'm not coming down for or against the issue, because that's beside the point) are ones where you can't think of anything to say in response.

Hi Angelwriter, Thanks for responding. Trust me if you read the post you would find the perfect catagory to put it in. But my point was not to point fingers as this is a public forum and every one has the right to argue, debate, comment etc on any discussions here.
How many times have you seen this:
Post 1. The sun rose at my house, did it rise at yours?
Post 2. My sun was green, what color is your sun
Post 3. Did you know the sun was hot?
Post 4. Can you look out the window and see the sun?
Well the post that I was talking about was of the same kind. Except it would have ended with: I can't see the sun, Thank God for that.....duh

Well, maybe the person was thinking how convenient it would be for them to not have to take the time to eat? A lot of people see the world as reflections of themselves, not of humanity as a whole.
Yes, there are a lot of "dumb" discussions. What I've done is add friends to my list that post interesting discussions of substance then I turn the notify feature on. Not only do I get good discussions in my mailbox that I can respond to and that make me think or laugh, I have a steady stream of content to respond to and friends that receive my discussions and reply thoughtfully. That makes this place a lot more fun!
It's a slow day and I'm caught up with most of my other work so I thought I'd stroll through the discussions and found yours. My friends usually keep me too busy to do this. I'd be happy to be added to your friends list, too.

I think some people are here purely to make money. One young man posts the same discussion six or seven times every day - with slightly different wording - about making money on myLot, reaching payout on myLot, joining other sites to make money - and it's gotten to the stage I just delete them out of my inbox and will probably have to turn off his notifications. It's blatantly obvious he's trying to reach a self-imposed quota of discussions every day - and WHO CARES? I enjoy answering people's funny comments, personal dilemmas or hearing stories about what they are doing in their lives - I've learned not to touch religion, as you're never going to change anyone's dogged opinion, so you might as well save your breath and not be abused!

I think the standard is if you enjoy yourself here. Some ones come here to get money, some ones want to relax after hard work, some ones come to improve english speaking. Different posts come from different objects of myloters. You can't urge any one to try to initiate best discussion. You'd better try to find the posts you are interested with instead.

Mylot is what it is. Visit a private website that you can control if you really want to make everything cater to your specific wants. Other than that quit whining.

Quite the opposite my friend. Mylot is what we as participants make it. I am definitely not asking that something be cater to wants. In case you hadn't noticed this is a forum of choice and opinion.
To whine is far better than a hit dog hollering...lol

Well, we always hope for something better. But, I think it will always be rooted to thye main objective of the site. If the goal is to provide meaningful discussions, the administrators should be able to define and let the members know what will qualify as meaningful... as we have different understanding and experiences.
Some people may find meaning on posts that you find meaningless... others may see otherwise.
There will be other ways as well to find checks and balance - rate, response, etc.
Good day!

Yes I would like to see some good discussions ones with substance would be great. I remember seeing one the poster was complaining that their 345 and 346 discussion was deleted blah blah but they only had a 348 behind their name. Geeze can they respond more and not have such needless discussions about eye, hair and skin color.

I must admit it seems more and more lately that I scroll thru page after page trying to find a subject worth responding to. Some are so silly I can't believe they took the time to type it. I swear, we see everything from "Look at my pimple" to "why are there clouds in the sky." I would really like some topics that are actually worth discussing, or are at least interesting. With world-wide members you'd think there would be SOMETHING out there they can post about?

I agree some discussions are too senseless and not worth answering and of course they tend to overshadow the good ones. I think that some people here just want to post as much as they can for the money of course, too bad they sacrifice quality. I think that they should at least spare us from their discussions and keep it to themselves or at least an interest group where they could get better answers.

I understand what you saying and I hope you do not consider me one of the dumbs, hahahaha, well the worst for me is to look to the top discussions and see so many dumb ones. I think sometimes people have difficulty with the english language so they write what they can but when comes to old members of myLot and americans or native english speaker and they say the most dumb things and people answer it! Sometimes I am like OMG how can this be? Well I just keep going with my friends and my things.

I agree with the general complaint, but not with your problems with the one discussion you mentioned.
Are you seriously arguing that it's a bad idea to advance technologically because jobs would be lost (of course, they wouldn't--they'd move to other areas)? Should we hire people to count things manually instead of using calculators and computers? That would create more jobs too, you know.
The logic doesn't make sense.

Find the post, read its entirety and then respond.
The problems of that particular post were just that...my issues. No I am not arguing technology but obviously they are some areas that aren't going anywhere no matter how advanced technology is...food, transportation, fuel etc. Even if the meal is a red, yellow and blue pill as the writer indicated.
And yes we should hire people to count things manually since everybody wont be able to use a calculator or computer, but still need to support there family. As you find these things readily available, there are still people in the world that have never heard of or seen a computer, not to mention what to do with one.

Well, you must think and if you think you will have a valid opinion.
Pills for meals save you the trouble of cooking or buying food but cuts out all taste activity and that means that in a very short time people will be trying to go without food because they'll get tired of popping pills and lose all the pleasure of eating tasty food.
So the thing is to forget pills unless you're sick and enjoy something.

The meal in a pill idea was in "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory", a children's book. maybe that says it all. I suppose if it happened in the real world you'd still have to transport food to the pill companies to get the nutrients into the pills...
But as far as YOUR discussion... Yeah, some days there are a lot of dumb discussions. But I figure, if you think a discussion is dumb, don't respond. The fewer responses that type of discussion gets, the fewer (hopefully) will be posted. But I could also point out that a topic that seems stupid to you may be very interesting to somebody else.
An IQ test, interesting. To exclude people or to categorize them? If everybody got labeled, you could just go visit the discussions of people with IQs above a certain number. Or below... lol
