I am mad, venting. I had a phone interview, 3 interviews in the office, shadow one of the employees, and today I got a we went with an internal candidate. We think you might be better suited for another area within our company, but we are not hiring right now. It will probably be 2009 before we hire. If they knew, they were going to hire internally why waste my time. This office was 1 hour from my home. The interviews average 2 hours. If a company did that to you how would you feel, would you be upset. Is this a common practice with companies?

Company feels to have alot of interviews for applicant for a certain position to screen the applicant very properly base on his or her skills and knowledge with regards to the job he or she is applying for. Ofcourse, employers want and will pick the best among several applicants. Company hires the best applicant that they think of. Who would ever want to hire an incompetent applicant who is not fit for the job.

A company should be able to screen an applicant after they receive the application and do the first interview.
It's not necessary to keep bringing someone back time and time again if the human resources department knows what they are doing and are competant in judging a person's abilities.
This is just a way to justify the position of human resourses director.
When I managed a furniture store, I was able to detect if the person was right for the job immediately. We gave them a 90 day probation period. If they didn't work out, then they were released.
Sometimes your best hire is the one you think less of. You have to take a chance with certain people. Their desire to succeed sometimes overcome their lack of experience.

Wow, what a bummer, I would be so upset, if that happened to me. I am currently looking for work, I am not looking forward to those interviews. Needing money as it is, and wasting so much gas riding back and force for nothing. I can imagine, how much gas you must have used. They had to have had an idea, they were going to go internally.
Sorry, it was such a waste of your time. Good luck with your next one, hope you get the job

It did cost me a lot, gas was at $4.00 when I started this interview process. I am trying to be positive, but its hard. Anyway, I am sure I will find something eventually. If nothing by December, I can always go back to my seasonal job January. Good luck finding employment also.
