My grandma has died years ago but she has been a great influence on how I am today.I adore her dearly.Looking through her things I found one of her writings and read through it...it was more about her bottled feelings on her relationship with my grandfather...some were sad, some were happy thoughts...what amazes me is the way she writes...it is soooooo the way I write, myself...I always wondered where I got that trait...now I know...she is more a part of me than i realized...

Whoa! that is a treasure you find. I love reading those kind of materials, I remember when I read my grandmother's birthday card from her kids, my father then was at lost and my grandmother wrote on the page intended for my father. The emotions was there and I can't help but cry. There is truthfulness on that kind of material and maybe you should post some of the entries in your blog or journal.

a treasure indeed...she is a very smart woman...when you first meet her you would think she is strict and stiff but then soon you will realize that when it comes to the family her heart is all out to us...ohhh how i miss her...

Sometimes I worry what if I suddenly die and they take hold of my writings...would they laugh about it? would they think bad about me? would they think I had a sad life? cause I tend to exaggerate about my feelings through my writings...every time I finish a year I read them again and reminisce about my year and then I seal them with another paper and wrap around a masking tape without missing and inch of space and then finally mark it with a marker...making sure that if someone attempts to open and read i would surely know...paranoid? maybe...lol :)

What a lovely posting this is! I never had the diary of an ancestor to read through but I wish I had. It's a wonderful legacy especially if you can find some of yourself in the writing. Thanks for posting this thread and take care of that diary. Maybe some day your own grandchildren will find some of themselves in it or in your own writng.

Well, it is great to know where you get so many wonderful traits from isn't it? My daughter just lost her grandmother too and it would be so nice for her to have something like this as Grandma was such a wonderful person. She had her own ways of doing things and she didn't like to change but she had so many great qualities about her and I see many of those in my daughter.

How cool is that to be able to read the thoughts and feelings of someone whom you were so close to. I always thought it would be amazing to be able to look back into the lives of some of my loved ones and to know how their lives really were and the things that they had went through both happy and sad. You are very lucky to have that opportunity. I have learned a lot from my grandma but it would be really neat to be able to go back and read more once she is no longer able to tell me stories of our past both hers and my families.

Now that makes me sob! I miss my grandma. She is the reason why I am striving so hard to make my life better. She was the only one who believes in me. It is really hard for me to overcome the fact that she's gone. Grandmas really make us feel special and they really took care of us, right?

Well it's a good thing that there's no information about as a lazy girl just kidding, diary is good stuff, its like your best friend where you can always write all your secrets and feelings. Actually reading others diary is like reading a pocketbook you will learn a lot of things about the person, but its a private property so we must be careful reading others diary. Good Luck

We all are influenced by our family even if we realize it or not. It is just that you came to know of your traits after reading a diary. Happy that you realize how much you are a part of your family.

I believe it is a good habit to keep writting diary. I believe you grandma love life very much and write down the every day happiness and anything interesting. She liked to cherished the sweet or bitter memories. I believe you will know your grandma better and you can learn how to enjoy life from her.
