I got an email message from facebook the other day that said, "I believe you are Kathy, from the valley?" I am she, so I checked out my facebook. Lo and behold it was one of my childhood friend's older sister! Wow has been 30 years already? I was so excited. Lynn and I had been really close all through high school. She graduated a year ahead of me and moved away. Her sister and I exchanged updates and I passed my emails and cell #. What a wonderful surprise!! Have you ever located an old friend online or some other way? Has an old friend surprisingly located you?

I've met a number of old friends on the internet, even one foreign pen pal I had lost touch with. The internet is great for things like that!

Thanks for the br. It's funny about the pen pal though, he had just gone through a divorce and he started asking questions that made me think he was looking for a relationship. And after I sent a couple responses that gave the idea that I wasn't interested, it was the last I heard from him!

Yeah, I do, redkathy. Here in Brazil, Orkut it's a kinda popular community. Almost everybody has it's profile. Because of this, I found many of my old friends and old classmates in there. This week, a classmate of mine just found me.. I was so surprised 'cause I thought he wouldn't remember of me anymore.. ^^

I know what you mean about people not remembering. It's always a bit surprising when they do.

Wow!! That must have been exciting for sure. Have you been able to get ahold of her sister and reconnect as well? 30 yrs. would be a long time. I was actually able to reconnect with my childhood friend quite a few yrs. back via finding the information online. But we found we were completely different now compared to when we were young, so we quit talking, but I would Love to still know updates on some of them if I could again as well.

We haven't spoken yet... Only with her sis, who seems the same as she always was from the emails! I hope to get in touch with others from this. That would be really cool! Thanks for responding and have a good night!

I moved so far away so early I hardly find anyone so I was really surprised this time. I have a myspace to keep up with the kids. Thanks for the response.

Actually I did that just today! Well Monday night I found someone on myspace I suspected was an old friend. He didn't have his photo or real name posted but everything else fit so...I tok a chance and sent a friend request along with a message only he would understand. My hunch was right! He sent me a message back today and we're starting to get caught up. He's always been in the area, I just didn't know quite where which is why we lost touch. Hopefully he'll be stopping by this weekend!

It's funny you mention facebook. I practically had the same experience. Years and years ago I used to know this guy. I met him via his mother as his mother and I were "roomies" while I was in the hospital for a minor operation. Harvey was about nine years younger but we became great friends, in fact I viewed him like a younger brother...at the time we were both into Star Wars movies (the earlier ones from the late 1970s)...he was also a Star Trek fan...he was also a photographer. So we remained good pals up until about twelve years ago..He had moved to NJ and we continued to talk on the phone or write but then he "disappeared". I tried to find out what the heck happened to him but couldn't find out anything. Then when I became computer savvy tried to find him that way...no luck. Then one day some months ago, I was at facebook and figured what the heck, and typed in his name--I couldn't believe it...I FOUND HIM...now we regularly email each other and catch up on what's been going on in our lives...but it was so great to find him again!

My friend found her lost daughter after 20+ years. She had put the baby up for adoption cause she was only 16 at the time. Well she found her when she was a teen but the parents didn't want her to talk to the daughter. We had a friend die recently and I had to contact her. All of her phones were changed or disconnected. I have her daughter(from her marriage now) as a friend on myspace so I sent her a message for her mom to call me. She did and we talked for about an hours(we hadn't talked in a year) I encouraged her to set up a myspace and a facebook. Told her that is how I keep up with all the kids. Evidently she did a myspace and found her lost daughter who is now 31. She went to visit last weekend! How cool is that.
