Heard this story last night on the news about the two year old cat named "Yoda" and was adopted by Valerie and Ted Rock when they saw him prowling around near a bar where they lived. What's special or unusual prey tell about Yoda? Oh, nothing much except he has FOUR ears...that's right, four which is some kind of genetic mutation that only occurs once in a blue moon. According to one article:(Quote)He is perfectly normal, hears well, energetic, cute little cat," Rock said. "Very friendly, very social."The only thing these retirees worry about is a possible catnapping of their curious pet."We always let the cats go outdoors, but this one was so unusual we decided we didn’t want to do that," Rock said. "So we had him chipped, and we keep him inside." http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,406581,00.html Here are some more articles about this most unusual kitty http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/how aboutthat/2584105/Cat-with-four-ears-a-target-for-catnappers.html http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1046684/Meet-Yoda-cat-FOUR-ears.html Other than the strange fact that Yoda has four ears, his healthy and according to all the articles I've read a most loving and adorable kitty. The owners named him Yoda as they are Star Wars fans, and believe it or not, George Lucas had originally named that famous Jedi master Yoda after HIS cat. I don't know about you...I think he's cute.....Have you ever seen a kitty with four ears....would you ever consider adopting a cat that had a strange "addition"?

Oh I am so glad someone took him in, yes I would take an animald in with any strange additions, in fact I think if I went to choose an animals which i have never had to do, they seem to come to me, I would probably go for one that I would think might find it hard getting a home...he sounds lovely..

I think Yoda is so adorable. It would never bother me to adopt an animal that had something like that. Another condition some cats get is cerebellar hypoplasia in which a cat's motor skills aren't too keen...they fall a lot their balance is always out of kilter, yet they live normal lives and are without pain..sadly many cats are put down since their owners don't understand the condition ...youtube has a video called This Is Charley..I have it on my profile page...just love that cat!

Yoda is absolutely adorable! How awesome that those people decided to take him into their home. I hope they keep him inside from now on. Too many people would try to take him for various reasons I think. I actually discovered the other day that one of the feral kittens that adopted us has five toes on each foot! It looks like he's got real thumbs because the extra toes stick straight out from the feet. So now I'm trying to get him tamed down so I can keep him.

I named this one Nibbles because he looks like a kitty I used to have by that name. He looks like he is part seal point siamese.

I think I remember reading about a four-earred cat earlier this year. Not sure if this is the same one, but I think he's quite handsome, for an alien. =^^..^^= If you've read any of the The Cat Who... books, Koko's super intelligence might be a result of having extra whiskers...

I've read a few of those "The Cat Who.." books. I'm actually reading a book now though that was written around 1967 called Pyewacket..now you know I couldn't resist reading a book with that name

It wouldnt bother me. I'd think it was cute. I used to have a cat with six toes. He was a as cute a s a button. I love cats big, small, cute, tall, short, sweet, sassy and nasty. I just love cats. They are really nice and lots of fun. I also like dogs not to be just a big cat fan. I've never seen a cat I didnt like though.

I too had a cat with six toes! His original name I gave him was Koshka, but wound up being named Footie..LOL...My mother got him at Bide A Wee....he was considered unadoptable due to his "deformity" of six toes..she felt sorry for him and adopted him....he was the sweetest cat around and had him for many years before he went to the Land Of Bast

Isn't he great???? I just saw the story last night!! He looks like a little alien! And, each pair of ears is a different type (rounded and pointed). The pointy pair look like little devil horns, I think! I'm so glad they gave him a home instead of his being a pub novelty. God only knows what might have become of him in that setting with his minor abnormality - just takes one superstitious person to cause a problem, you know? ::grrr:: I did have a kitten born with two noses and mouths once - I tried to keep it alive, but it was as though each nose was connected separately and each one smelled what it wanted, so it could never decide which mouth to keep on the teat. But, maybe the mouths weren't fully functional either - he didn't live past two days, so I never knew. But, I have to wonder if Yoda's ears are all functional - it never really says, other than to acknowledge that they really are separate ears, not a single pair that grew with a deformity. Quite the advantage to a creature who already has superior hearing, I think.

Glad you saw that story too...did you watch it on World News Now? That's on rather late but I'm still usually up...---yup those extra ears do look like horns...LOL. What great folks to adopt him, no? Aww shame about your two nosed.mouthed kitty... I even saw a Youtube video of a cat born with two extra legs! Haven't heard any updates but the owners were going to get the cat operated on to remove them

You could try a Savannah cat This is a cross between a domestic cat and a cerval and the first generation (F1) cats are between 10 - 25 Lb. The later generation (F2 and F3) cats are not so heavy but still big. They are big, beautiful and friendly cats.

I guess it would be different if your dogs and if you had a cat grew up together as puppies and kittens, then they might be used to each other.

He is so adorable! I love cats and always tend to take in the special kitties that nobody wants. My cat Samson I adopted when he was 3 months old. Nobody wanted him, because someone cut half of his tail off. He is a big 15 pound healthy cat now and is 5 years old. He is smart and beautiful.

I'm so glad Samson has a good home after his ordeal. I just don't understand how someone can hurt an animal. It makes no sense. I love my kitty cats so much and enjoy each and every one of them. I'm glad there are so many cat and dog lovers here on myLot.

What a neat story! I've never heard of a cat with four ears. I'm glad he has a good home, though. It just makes me treasure my babies all the more. They are special, too, but they all have two ears, four legs and a tail. And, one likes to walk on the shower rod. Hee Hee Hee

Definitely a good thing they took him in. The only time I've seen an unusual cat is when I first saw a Scottish fold Calico. Evidently, they are popular and very expensive and the one I saw was in the kennel where my babies were for over a year. Some of those cats had just been dropped off by owners who never came back. I don't know how someone can do that. I was torn apart emotionally the whole time my babies were in that place. Fortunately, the owner was very good to me and my babies and kept them even when I couldn't pay her. One of these days, I want to repay her kindness in some way because she saved my babies' lives. And, I am so grateful! They are so precious to me and I enjoy them so much! Okay, I'll shut up!

That was great that that person kept your babies and didn't charge you...as for the owners of that Scottish Calico just leaving it there...well, better there then just dumping it on the street somewhere...that I really can't tolerate hearing about

I think he is cute, and I love grey cats.....I have wanted a grey cat for a long time. I would take any animal that had a problem as long as it had a good disposition. I have always had very happy animals and I want to keep it that way. I think happy animals develop a personality all their own.

He's adorable but looking at him kind of makes me feel like I've had too many mixed drinks!! LMBO I'm glad he's got a loving home and won't be harmed. If any one else got him and their way of thinking, which is so stupid, he might have been harmed. Great story Pye!

Boy thats one strange looking cat. But yea, I wouldn't let anything like that stop me from adopting them. I have a cat now that has unusual markings. He has pale blue eyes and is white, with apricot colored stripes on his tail and the apricot color is in swirls all around his body. He was named Spook as a kitten because he was all white then. But now he looks more like a dreamsicle. LOL

I don't know why his color has changed as he grew up. I admit I was a bit disappointed. I've always wanted an all white cat with blue eyes. But, still love him even though his coloring is so different now.

Hi pye, Wow! what a wonderful story, a stray four ears cat found and is now well looked after. You don't often get nice stories like that. I would consider adopting a cat that had strange "addition" all cat needs that chance of love in a good home. Bright Blessings Tamara

He's certainly unusual. I wonder though, are two of his ears non functional or does he have four functioning ears. It's not entirely clear from the article if two of the ears are just flaps of skin attached to the skull or if he has four functioning ears. That would be really remarkable!

I don't know if both sets of ears are functional either. Aww...I never saw so many kitties with extra ears before...doesn't seem to bother them. I found a youtube video of a kitten born with an extra set of back legs...the owners were going to get them surgically removed ...didn't seem to bother the kitten though

I think he's adorable! Would I adopt him - in a heartbeat! I've never seen anything like it - and I have to admit that the first glance at the pix was like seeing a double image. I can also kind of see why some wackos might see a devil cat - those extra ears are placed in such a way. But I'd love to meet him. As a matter of fact - I don't have a grey kitty.....

Well, the microchip is probably in his sholder area, but I am glad his owners are taking such good care of him. No, I wouldn't steal him, for one thing, how could I take him from the people that saved him in the first place, and secondly, my car couldn't go that far right now. But... if I should see one...
