Falling for your best friend! Why does it always go wrong?!?

Twice in the past 18 months i have fallen for my best friends... 2 different guys... the main problem being... i'm a guy and they're straight! The first time i fell for my friend adam and he reacted badly, he wouldn't come near me or talk to me or even look at me! We went through phases of being friends and him hating me but now we're friends because he thinks im completely over him... not entirely true! And now i have fallen for my friend mike. I sort of made myself fall for him but i would have fallen for him anyway. I made myself fall for him because i thought it would help me get over adam and it started to until mine n mike's friendship fell to pieces. He always said he wouldn't care if i liked him because we're good friends anyway and he knew i was gay... now however he reacted differently... i never told him he just said things got to weird for him and in his words "Can't you understand that i don't want to speak to you?... Please just leave me alone". It's not like him at all and he wouldn't say that and now he's treating me like im nothing and im just a dirty gay. Does love ever go right?!?
