it's tasty but nasty...it flares up then explodes...do you have a WASABI story?

Wasabi, made from horseradish is Japan's flavor. It goes well on almost anything and it's healthy too.I love wasabi. It's spicy but it doesn't hurt the tongue. It traverses your nasal passage and clears up congestion. It explodes your head with a nasty sensation. One time a cousin visited us and saw a bowl of green matter.Without asking he got a spoon and ate a mouthful of what he thought was avocado (guacamole). Aaaaargghhh!!!eeewwww!!!whizzzz!!!bangggg!!!I didn't get to warn him. It's WASABI!!! hihihihi!!!Ever had an unforgettable wasabi experience?

I LOVE wasabi! And I am one of those people that is an absolute menace with it in that I will hide it under someones food just to give them a shock!! lol. At least wasabi is not like chili; the rush of heat is quick and then gone whereas the burn from chili can last for a long time. I very rarely get to eat sushi or sashimi these days but when I do get the chance I load up the wasabi big time! Also the pickled ginger.....

Welcome to the club.I have a friend who is like you.He would hide wasabi to the utter shock of whoever gobbles the food. There was a time that I was putting wasabi into whatever I was eating. The pickled ginger called gari is great. It clears the palate so we get to enjoy the delightful tastes of various sushi and sashimi. Thanks for your response.
