Hi all, Do you still remember? Well I do. Mine was IBM branded. I got it from my uncle who gave it as a birthday present when I was 15 years old. I was unable to do a single thing that day as it OS was MS DOS 3.3. Apps installed was WordStar 4.0 and Lotus123. The only games was Pacman. Its a 286 AT with 4Mbyte memory. How about you? Tell me then...

Ahh yes, the good old black and white ZX81.I have no idea what the specs were but I did actually learn to write simple 'if...then' programs on it! That was back in the early 80s when computers were less complex ....& my brain was less confused!

Wow... I got mine in 1991. Yes! I was able to learn C without too much SDK problem that my nephew had today... Simple is the key :)

My mum had her computer about 8 years ago and started having lessons on how to use it for something other than games last year at the age of 76. Now she says she doesn't know why she was ever scared of it. Thx for b/r

As I've previously mentioned in several other discussions here in mylot and to be totally honest about it, I still haven't bought or had my very own computer up to this day. But my husband and I do plan to purchase a computer set just before our daughter starts schooling, about a couple of years from now. At the moment, we're really still having a hard time making ends meet. My husband has just started working again less than a month ago. Before that, I was the only one working for my own family. I guess that you know how it is hard for me to really squeeze what I can from my monthly salary, after deductions of taxes and loan amortizations from it. But I do remember that during my fourth year in a local private school, I was able to see and handle a computer for the first time. It served as our elective subject. I forgot the brand and model of the computer sets we used but what I do recall is that the monitor was colored green; unlike today. And there was a limited list of what one can do with the earlier models and programs. And yes, I'm also familiar with wordstar. I do hope to have a computer set in the soonest possible time not only for myself, but more importantly, for our daughter's use during her future schooling.

Actually, I have long forgotten about it until now. You have just reminded me. I got my first computer in 2001 and it helped me a lot because it connected me to people I love and found new profitable hobbies online. My first and last computer--I've never had a second one LOL!--had a heavey case and couldn't have vista OS because the specifications are very outdated. I'm planning to buy a laptop this time although my husband has got a computer but I want to have my own that I can carry anywhere I go.

Yeah I still remember that. The first time I saw a computer in our house, I don't know how to use it and I got even scared to touch it because I might destroy it. The first time we had an internet in our computer, I don't know how to use it also how can I make email addresses and how to search. But I realize that you don't have to be scared unless you didn't do anything wrong. Hehe
