Record rainfall from a stalled hurricane over parts of Florida have been causing massive flooding, especially in Melbourne, Florida. I was wondering how many people here have ever been in a flood?
We've never had much flooding where I live, but I do remember a bad hurricane made a water basin a few blocks away from my home overflow and there were a few streets that were under water. Thankfully, the water never got up to any of the homes and receded the next day.
Have you ever been in a flood and if so, what was it like? It must be a very scary feeling to be trapped like that. Here's a link about the flooding in Florida:

I live in the UK there are areas over the last couple of years that have suffered really bad flooding, luckily where I live we are lucky in that it rarely happens.
However, I remember one year about 3 or 4 years ago now I was with a friend and we had gone to pick our kids up from school. I had a little boy in school and then a baby in a pushchair. We had picked them up from school and decided to pop into the supermarket on the way home. The weather had been lovely and sunny but we just got near to the supermarket and the sky went really black.
We had only been in the supermarket for about 10 minutes when we looked at the weather and it was pouring down, I have never seen rain like it ever. It was running like a river outside, my friend managed to get her dad to come pick us up and he took us home the roads were amazing we could not see them I remember the kids being really frightened and I was scared and then it was thundering and lightening too. We arrived home safely, and it still kept raining, the drains in my garden were not coping with the rainfall at all and it was rising to the door, it did not help that we lived on an incline and so the water was running downhill.
I phoned my hubby in the end because the rain rose to the door and was starting to come in the house so he came home from work and had to smash all the coverings away from the drains so that we could get it to flow down them! It was horrible and although it has never happened since I feel for those that do get caught up in this awful weather.

Yep, I live in a village called Beniarbeig, in Spain and last October we had massive rainfall that flooded so bad it brought only bridge in the village to a catastrophic end. They rebuilt and only opened it last week. If you take a look on youtube and search for Benearbeig Bridge, youll see loads of footage, I couldnt get out my house for 3 days. It was very scary I have to say!
