i was chatting with a friend last night and she was telling me stories about her 7 month old daughter. She bought her daughter a hypoallergenic teddy bear which is a bit expensive. But she didnt play with it, she just held it once and then thats it. She'd rather play with the pillows. this is a common observation i noted. with my younger sisters, niece & nephew and even with the toddlers in the school where i used to work. they have weird tastes in toys. you give them those colorful ones with sounds, they'll play with it once or twice. But they spend so much time enjoying shoeboxes, pots & pans and mommy's cellphone. do u have the same observation? what's the weirdest thing your kid plays with?

oh i forgot which one of my sisters love strings too. its so funny, parents get them the most expensive toys and they would prefer shoelaces. i bet your grandchild is so adorable, 15 month old toddlers are sooo cute. i have a nephew but he is 17 month old now.

i've noticed that also because i've had a million babies in my house and they never stay put with the toys you give them. my cousins kids like to play with cups and plates and spoons. its weird. the cellphone is also one that they like a whole bunch. and they try to eat crayons like crazy.

thats funny. one of my student's brother love the pressure cooker covers, lol. have you seen the edible crayons, i guess that a whole lot safer for kids. but im not such a huge fan of it. how can you we teach children about whats edible and not if we can let them eat crayons, lol! thanks for sharing redchase.

I think kids would rather use their imaginations - and we're always trying to give them toys that don't require that. My son is grown, but when he WAS little, his favorite thing was to drag clean sheets and blankets out of the linen closet and make tents all over the living room. When he got a bit older and played in the back yard (about an acre) by himself, things kept disappearing from the house. Turned out he used anything and everything to make an obstacle course...then charged his friends ten cents to try it.

that obstacle course business is pretty creative, lol! be ready, your son might be the next 'pump it up'magnate.=) it is an advantage then that these children plays that way. creativity & resourcefulness is enhanced and parents dont need to buy expensive toys ( which will just be in the stock room or will soon be donated to salvation army)

my 17 month old son, wants to play with catsup bottles. his aunt gave him some fisher price musical toys but he prefers the catsup bottles over it,Lol. but my daughter played the usual musical, colorful toys. but not the usual way you would expect. she tends to get creative with it.
