I'm English and lived in the USA for year from November 1993 - November 1994. I worked as an au pair and I had a fantastic year. I didn't met just Americans, but other girls, from all over Europe, working as au pairs. I had such a great time and met so many people and made loads of friends. However, I have to say after a year I was pleased to get home and see my family!

Well, I live in the US now. I moved here about 13 years ago from Germany, where I grew up. I attended a university on the border to Austria and the apartment building I lived in was in Austria. I lived there for about seven years (a bit past getting my university degree). That was back when it was not part of the EU and one needed an extra permission by the Austrian government to live there for longer than three months. That building and handful of houses were pretty much the only things right behind the border on that part of town and we pretty much had the border guards as our gatekeepers, lol.
Funny thing is, I miss things of every area I spent a couple of years living. My hometown in Germany of course (although it has changed very much since I moved away from there), the place in Austria I stayed, then the first place we lived for five years here in the US. Here, although everybody speaks English, there is still quite a difference from state to state, much like from country to country in Europe. I'm sure once we move away from here, I'll miss this place, too.
I have never really been to England apart from crossing through Heathrow, lol, but it's one my list of places I'd like to visit some day;)

I am English and moved to France nearly eight years ago. I do love England it is still in my heart, although France is a lovely place to live and very calm and peaceful. It is a wonderful place to bring my children up in, but now they are getting older I would like them to see more of the world , so in the next few years, hopefully we will be selling up and moving to the USA.

I'm English and I have always lived in England. I was born in Yorkshire, then I moved away when I was in my twenties. I have since lived in Dorset, Merseyside, Manchester, London and Hampshire. London was best because I got to know people from countries I will never have a chance to visit.
I have visited most European countries, but I've never stayed more than three weeks in any of them.

I am English too but my parents moved to Germany with me as I was 2yo. I came back to the UK five years ago and despite having grown up bilingual I still have a bit of a German accent. For a long time I found it pretty annoying to be asked by everyone where I came from and having to explain my background - luckily it doesn't happen that often anymore. And because I have realised that most English people like the Germans I nowadays don't mind telling people that I am German if I don't feel like explaining why I sound German despite being English.

I have lived in England for more than 3 years. Not a british citizen but stayed there for some time.
during my long stay in England, i spared some time on a few occasions to travell to other countries in europe. i wonder why you have never had a chance travelling aborad when air travel from UK to most european countries is very cheap. airlines like ryanair, flybe, easy jet are just wonderful, especially when they put seats on sale .
travelled in lived in many cities of England as well as wales, scotland. I liked all uk very much!
