I reached the 1000 pageviews but earned nothing for it

I have reached 1000 pageviews today for my blog since I signed up for Adsense. I have been thinking Adsense pays for every 1000 pageviews and for every click. But I have reached the 1000 pageviews but earned nothing from it. Do you use Adsense in your blog? How much do you earn from it? Do you really earn per 1000 pageviews? I hope someone can enlighten me on this.
