Do you sleep between the sheets?

I am so ticked off and my company is not even here yet? I have a pet peeve about sleeping between the sheets. I just hate it when the company I have does not sleep between the sheets. Don't they realize that sleeping between the sheets means your top blanket or comforter stays clean longer which means you don't have to wash them as often? It use to be that when I saw the top sheet bunched up on the floor or at the end of the bed I assumed they were messy sleepers. Until one day commenting about it and found out they actually took the sheet off because they didn't like sleeping under a sheet. One day it dawned on me that in the hot and sweaty whether months when people sleep naked or close to it their sweaty bodies were making my blankets dirty. This means instead of washing a thin sheet I now had to wash a thick bulky blanket or comforter. I get a lot of company and that means a lot of extra work as I don't want the next person who sleeps in the bed be wondering why their blanket smells unclean. I have decided from now on when I have company I need to simply say please sleep between the sheets. Do you think it is okay to say something? Does it bother you if people sleep with just your thick comforter and nothing else? Oh I am mad just thinking about it.

why not during those hot sweaty months you take the blanket off the bed. i mean you don't need it and if people are going to lay on top of it because it's to hot to get under it, it would be better just to take it off.

I just made the beds and that is exactly what I did. I took the thick comforters of and put on the set of sheets and a blanket. Hopefully they don't take the sheets off and ask for a comforter. Am I the only one that hates to have to wash a comforter? They are so big and bulky to deal with.

Well, I think some might find it offensive if you were to say something like this. If it was me, and it was the hotter months there like it could be now, what I would do it maybe just have like your bottom sheet, top sheet, and then a thin blanket, and let them know if that is not enough, and they feel they would get cold, they can always ask for something more. This way you would only have a thinner blanket to worry about washing each time.

Krause you must mean a thicker blanket to wash each time. I sure don't mind washing the thiner sheets. I should of said this problem isn't with all my company just a few of them. They always like the quilt and get rid of the sheet. Then either push the sheet down at the bottom of the bed or completely take it off. but I could like you said try putting a thiner blanket on and hope they dont' ask for the comforter.

Wilson, I just love company and I think that is why I get so much of it. I like friends and family and anyone else who happens to stay here feel completely at home and comfortable. I think they do and that is why they come back as often as they do. Is it really so offensive that I would want them to sleep between the sheets to save on washing my quilt every single time someone sleeps in the bed. I was taught that is what the top sheet was for. PS... I must be off with this kind of thinking because I was sharing my pet peeve with a friend yesterday and she laughed at me and told me in England they never use a top sheet and niether does she. So I guess they wash their blankets a lot too.

I agree. There is no reason to have a heavy comforter the bed when it is really hot. Besides, I would strip the bed and wash blankets and all after any guest has been there. That way, you can be certain that everything is fresh and clean for the next time you have company. If you really are that bothered by how people sleep, you may want to suggest a nice hotel in the area for out-of-town friends who come to visit. Then, you wouldn't need to worry about such things.

I do sleep between the sheets. Like the feel of a soft, clean sheet on my arms and legs. The only suggestion I can offer would be is to keep the comforter off the bed while you have company. Put it in a different room so there is no temptation to toss it over themselves while they are sleeping. Would cut your laundry considerably if no blanket or comforter was near the bed. Pretty is good but if it means extra laundry, it's not so pretty..lol

Carol it is nice to hear someone understands. With the first two comments I was beginning to think I was some strange uptight person. Why didn't I think of that. Pretty is nice but maybe for company take the fancy quilt off and just leave the blankets and sheets.I love that idea. The extra laundry just kills me sometimes. I have two exta rooms in my house and sometimes I have company in both and no sooner do they leave and someone else comes for a few days. I love company but it can be a lot of work.

I really personally don't care where anyone sleeps as long as it's not in the tub or something weird like that. But I don't have people over often enough to stay the night.

I agree the tub could be really uncomfortable for them? Of course I could fit the tub with a foamy if they would like.

I just noticed that the first person that actually commented on this discussion was removed. How did that happen I wonder? Did someone report the one worded answer or does myLot detect one worded answers? I am so glad the discussion didn't get deleted even though I think this is a topic no one wants to talk about. I guess most people would rather wash big heavy blankets and quilts then thin sheets. Yes I wash my blankets and quilts just not every week. PS everyone.. this is simply my pet peeve; what is yours?
