What can I do about my swollen lips?

Never before have I suffered from a swollen lip - except for the incident on holiday which I forbid anyone from mentioning when I sped off on a bike without properly checking it's brakes, only to pull the wrong one anyway, and nearly throw myself off the side of the cliff, preventing my fall with my face. However, my upper lip is I'd say at least three or four times bigger than it's usual self and I have no idea why.
I've eliminated all of the possible causes. I've not eaten anything to which I am allergic, I've not banged it or been involved in any fights, it's not a cut and it's not an ulcer. As far as I know, I am not ill in any other sense of the word, I just have an incredulously swollen lip. If there is anybody who could give me any input on this, it would be greatly appreciated. It's causing me a lot of discomfort and makes it hard to speak. The swelling itself is quite firm and seems white in colour. The swelling began earlier this afternoon and rose to this size relatively quickly, in only about an hour and a half. It's been about twelve hours and it's still swollen, despite my efforts to shrink it by sucking on ice. I am literally at a loss over what to do with it from here.
I have an early morning ahead of me as I intend to ring the doctor and get their opinion. I'm hoping there's something they'd be able to give me. Failing that, I will have to call work and bail on them last moment which they won't be too impressed about, it's inevitable to say - hence the dilemma. All of your responses are greatly appreciated and a best response will be picked. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
