My Daughters friends cousin died after a hysterectomy. She is the mother of 2 small children & died in recovery of this surgery. At first they said it was a stroke or anuerism. Now they discovered that her heart had 90 some blockage. She is just 31 years old. How could this be? Do they not check for that before surgery? I feel bad for these children who have not Mother.

I doubt alot of them do check before surgery. Years ago I had surgery to have a tumor removed and the Dr. assured me that I'd recover in 4-6 weeks. He didn't bother to find out that I had the start of Diabetes and it actually took 6 months and several re-openings before I was healed. I really think they need to check things like that more closely. ~~AT PEACE WITHIN~~ **STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS**

I am sorry for the loss and also feel terrible for the children. They will never get a chance to know their mother and enjoy her. Usually before they do surgery, they will run many tests. I had my uterus burned, tubes tied, and a laserscope for endometrosis. Before, I had these surgeries done, they took blood work, x-rays, and the typical blood pressure/temperature and pulse. I would have hoped they would have done these things and more with her before the surgery. Also, things could be normal and then fine after surgery but sometimes clots do occur. They may not always know until later, because the patient will be fine. I have heard this happen before. I know it will be hard, but I would still keep in contact with the family and those children. All the best....

Awh, that's sad to know! I feel bad for her family, especially for her children who will grow up without a mother. The thing is with surgery, the surgery is not the most dangerous part, it is the post surgery time for recovery that is the most dangerous time for those who undergo surgery. You really have to watch someone who is recovering from surgery, even if they seem to be feeling great. Blood clots are very common after surgery and that is what makes it so dangerous afterward. My mother is having surgery in September and I am scared for her since she has a blood disease that makes her create too much blood, blood clotting is already at a high chance to occur, but with surgery too the risk will be freakishly high . I am sorry to hear about your daughter's friend's family's loss!
