I am going back to school!
Well college actually I have just booked up a short course on Psychology starting in November!
I've always had an interest in psychology and I thought hey, why not sign up! It will help my therapy and it's all about
Self-awareness, self esteem, self-disclosure, non verbal communication, expectations, perceiving and understanding others, anxiety, conflict and barriers to communication
Now as those who know me well my self esteem is rock bottom and I am very very self conscious so this course will be ideal to help me understand myself more!
I am quite excited about it because I will meet people as well, it will also get me out as I tend to spend too much time indoors! So it will be another interest apart from the gym!
Who knows I might really get into it and then take it further!
So have you fancied going back to school, college, night school to take up a subject that you have been interested in?

Hi there Wolfie!
That's a great decision! There's nothing like doing what you want to do especially in your case where there's a possibility that it will become a profession or career if you decide to make it.
I just came back to school this June after stopping with my studies for five years. I am currently studying in a real college. It's a great experience and I enjoy each and every day, even the researches, assignments, reports, etc. and I am looking forward to earning my degree and be able to teach someday.
I came back to school when I realize that up to now, I really want to teach.

Both of you are doing great things. I wish you well, and great job on your studies, and understanding of those around you. Actually teachers need to be great psychologists as well, and psychologists teach us about ourselves. Good tracks, both of you.

When you reach rock bottom the only way is up, and I have got the tools to do it and I am going to succeed, the past cannot be changed, it's the learning and the experience from the past that will help me become stronger for it, love you xxxx

Good for you wolfie! Psychology has always interested me, it's such a fascinating subject learning how we humans tick. If I was a bit younger, I'd be tempted to do a course like that myself.
I've just finished a course at college and passed with 98% and achieving it has booted my self esteem through the roof. It was a Massage/Medical Terminology Course and I found it quite a challenge, but I did it!
Now I have to put it into practice and find a job where I can use it!
Good luck with your course in November. You will be great at it because you are good with people.

To be honest my friend I am good with people online, but offline I am not a people person, I used to work on the phones a lot and was very patient with people and softly spoken, however I hated customer facing jobs because I just didn't have the confidence and now even more so because I am wary of strangers and prefer to work alone and be on my own. So from that point of view I think psychology might help me understand what the barriers are.

Well done my darling little brother! I am both very proud and very envious! I havew often wanted to go back to school and 2 of the things I am most interested in are teaching and psychology! I know this will help you understand yourself better and may even raise your self confidence and esteem and I will be over the moon if that happens! good Luck Sweety and sorry I didn't text back - out of credit again , maybe a pay as you go phone wasn't such a good idea for me after all! lol xxxx

Maybe it might help me break down the defensive wall I have up, maybe it will help understand myself more and why I am always hard on myself and why my self esteem is so low and I am so self conscious, who knows what it might lead to, but if it interests me enough I will take it further xxxx Don't worry about the text I know you love me and don't forget me that is enough for me and our last conversation well you put me right and made me much happier xxxxx

Oh Wolfie, well done you for taking this step, it is never to late to learn a they say and this does sound like an excellent course. Good luck with it. I did start a psychology AS level four years ago but I found I was pregnant and the tutor refused to allow me to take the exams as I had missed tutorials even though I had studied at home any lessons I had missed. My daughter already has this and is currently doing a degree in it at Guildford University but has her placement at the moment at Cambridge Univesity ans she is loving it. I am currently doing a homecourse degree in advanced criminology which does incorporate a lot of psychology really in some of the case studies but I am very behind with it. I already have law but I'm very disillusioned with the whole juidicial system so my latest interest which I would like to persue is archeology which has been rekindled recently by the series Bonekickers, I don't watch TV often by I watched this as I found it so intersting. All the best. Ellie :D

I think this is great, wolfie! It is yet another sign that you are coming out of your shell. There is no better tool than education to change the way you see things and put them in their proper perspective. I hope this will be very rewarding for you. I almost got back into furthering my education recently, but circumstances conspired against me, but I still have not totally given up on the idea.

It's always good for you to learn more all the time. We have a saying here. We keep on studying until we grow old. I had courses when I was pregnant and I even passed my French exam:) Psychology is very interesting. If I feel bad, perhaps you can know how to help me:)
I love China

Right now I am considering going back to school in the evenings, so I can still work during the day. I am not sure what I want to take other than I live in Calgary and with all of the oil patch companies here I would like to take some courses that would help me to get a job with one of them. They pay so well. I have some secretarial skills, 17 years of working in an office, but have been out of touch with the work force for about 8 years so I need to update myself. I am going to go to one of the colleges in my area and see what my options are. Maybe an office administator course or business management course.
The thing that might stop me from doing this is because I am 51 years old and maybe it is too late for me. Maybe I can't study, don't know how. Maybe I am just dreaming that I can do it. Also, maybe someone won't hire me anyways because of my age. So many maybes, I am confused.

In the UK they are not allowed to discriminate you because of your age, I guess it may be different in Calgary my friend, I guess it's never too late to learn and some of the time it's the fear of going back to school that prevents us or we feel that we would not have the acumen to do it. Sometimes it's just good to dream because sometimes when dreams come true they turn into disappointments!

Firstly i would like to congradulate u on going back too school. I too have been really been torn between many things that i have tof these two study. Among these three choices there is Science, Psychology, and literature. of these two i can sort of fuse together and i do intend on studying psychology in the faculty of science come fall. However i still really want to study literature becasue it is simply so interesting to me. Hopefully i can manage to take a minor on this but for the time being i really have my hands full.

I have done three allied health courses in the last five or six years. I love going to school. I started a course about twelve years ago that would have finished my bachelors' degree with a ministry major, but in the end my personal life caused me to have to drop it. I may go study something new yet. I would like some computer courses, and who knows what else. Hubby thinks I should finish my bachelors' degree in business. I have more than two years of education, thanks to the extra courses in allied health. It would take me about eighteen months to finish.

I have gone back to school for several things over the years and completed one but not the other as we moved countries. I've been thinking about taking a course that would enable me to work from home like medical transcription or coding/billing or something along those lines. They are not cheap though.

Hi I am two psychology classes away from my BA degree. I got an Associates degree in Computer Science then decided to go into Psychology for the same reasons you are. It is amazing to me how much more you learn than you expect to learn. I absolutely love it and I wish you the best.

I actually ended up going to school for business and in this course I went through psychology. I have to tell you, if you are interested in this subject you will have so much fun doing it and it DOES help you learn more about yourself and what you really expect from yourself. If it didnt take up my time (since i have a baby and one on the way), I would love to go back for that as well
