aircon is set to maintain 78 F but my electricity bill shoot up to $106!

Well...I know that where I live, the news told us at the beginning of the summer that we could expect to see higher bills - about $25 per household per month - because of the high cost of oil and gas. That's been about what we've experienced. We keep our house at about 75 in the summer and 72 in the winter. Our bills are usually about $200 a month winter and summer. If we had better insulation, I'm sure the bills would go down a bit.

I have a big patio door that lets in a lot of heat during the summer time. I put some window reflecting tint on it and that helps. I also close the blinds on that side of the house.. I keep the temperature set at 80 because I think when it is set lower and you go out side the temperature feels a lot worse. I also use some fans in rooms the we are in because moving air feels cooler. My bill for the start of spring was $145 for a big house. i live in the south and it can get pretty hot so I feel that hat is reasonable.

mine was up to. it has been extremely hot here. i heard our service was going up to. i would call them & ask them to recheck. my neighbor's went way up last month & they called, sure enough the had read it wrong.
