What happened to my computer? Can you help me.

I have a system which went down. i checked for virus and it had some virus. So i planned to reinstall the OS. I formatted C drive and then tried installing OS. OS didn't install. I thought the hard disk could have got bad sectors or would have gone bad. so i changed it. Even then the OS did not install. My friends told that it is the problem of the RAM. So i changed my RAM but the problem didn't solve.
Now what next. How do i solve the problem? Can you gauge what the problem is?

Have you checked the CD. Just take it to some friends and check if it is still working. Sometimes CD drives can be deceptive. Last month I had a similar problem and learned my DVD writer lens are spoiled and it is reading a dvd as cd. Hope this solves the problem

yes this may b the reason, or try another CD or DVD, may b CD is not right!

Why did you format and try to re-install the OS all you needed to do was scan and clean the system with a good anti-virus program.
If you downloaded a anti-virus program from another good computer (with out a virus) put it on a CD, Thumb Stick or USB stick and install and run it you might have saved your system from needing to be re-formatted, an the OS installed.
