Do you ever monitor the cartoons that your young children watch?

I usually monitor regular tv or movies but not really cartoons. Well for now on I guess I will have to pay closer attention to the cartoons. I went to blockbuster and rented Justice League The New Frontier for my son and one of the cartoon characters said son of a bi*ch. I could not believe it, I was surprised. I said now don't you say that, and my son said it's a cartoon it's okay for them to say that. I told him that it's not appropriate for children to talk that way.

I also monitor cartoons as my nephew who is just 3 years old and neice 8 years old see. I know many inappropriate words are used in some cartoons which need to be sensored but no one is paying attention in this regard.

I don't sit around and watch cartoons with them because when they are watching tv I am busy trying to clean up and do other things around the house, so I let them watch pbs because I have not seen anything bad on that channel. They have to wait until their Dad gets home to watch other cartoons because he loves to watch that type of stuff. I don't really like cartoons anymore.

Yes, I do monitor the cartoons that my nephew watches. He's just 3 years old so he's very impressionable and very quick and easy to learn. I don't let him watch violent cartoons, not even looney tunes. I let him watch educational cartoons like dora the explorer. What he watches most is not cartoons but barney.

That is good. I was not aware that cartoons can be bad based on what I watched as a kid. We only have basic cable and they usually only watch pbs,and regular cartoons on Sat or the ones that I get from the library. I felt really bad that I made the mistake of picking the wrong cartoon at blockbuster. I will be more careful next time.
