What is life?

The superficial view of life we share amongst human beings is almost unbelievable. What is life really? The everyday ins and outs of "life" don't seem to make sense. We are born and taught to see the system in which we live as life. That doesn't even start to define what life really is. Do we stop to question " Is this really why we were born.?" There are so many beautiful things on this planet, not only to see but also to experience.. why do we waste our lives going to "work" everyday, and filling our mear existance with things and drama that has no value? Are money and titles worth all that we give up? Or is there something more, something that we as a human race fail to consider? Something so spectacular that if we truly understood our purpose, the whole process of "life" as we know it would stop and cease to exist. I believe there is.
