i just went on line to chat my best friend who was celebrating her birthday 3 days ago when all of a sudden some on line acquaintances and some friends buzzed me up. i was a bit shocked that they were actually four of them who buzzed me up. well, personally, sometimes i do the same but as much as possible i make it a point that the person is informed before hand that i will be talking to him / her on a chat mode. how about you? do you practice the same? BUZZZZ1

i sometimes do if i know that the person is busy and will not notice that i have sent them a message..but what i usually do to start a chat is with a smiley..^_^ i either give them a big grin or the one sticking a tongue out..

I always start my chat with a hello or hi and how are you feeling today? Buzzing in my point of viewing must not be there in chatting because the person chatting with you may all of a sudden gets busy in something, thats not replying to you and you keep on saying u there Buzz..... u there Buzz.. u there Buzz... for me its leave a bad impression. After all I hate disturbing and buzzing is one kind of disturbing.

I do buzzing for the first time when i send a message, this one is just to make them know that I am around. But after that I don't buzz my friends unwanted. I know that this will be irritating for others. You never know in what situation that guy is. May be he is at office or in a meeting. So that will be a disturbance for him.

buzzing is best with yahoo messenger, and i do that to let others know that I am here around. But some time it will be irritating process to get buzzed all the time you get a message. I always buzz a person when he is not responding and when i am expecting an answer.

No i don't. I think that's an annoying way to start a conversation. Especially at night where i would watch a movie on my computer with headset on, with ym on of course but on stand by. But then people would still attempt to get my attention by giving a buzz. Imagine how painful it would be for my ears. I think people should have a little awareness about the loud sound it would bring. I don't mind any buzz in the middle of a conversation though.

You're right. I also don't like being buzzed just to get my attention whenever my YM is open, especially if I'm in the middle of writing or editing then I get startled by a buzz. Lol! - I freak out sometimes! I like it when people just says "hi" or "hey" and asks me if I'm busy. I openly admit if I'm busy. However, I don't mind it if my writers are the ones giving me a buzz coz it's always about work and are important. :D

Personally I never buzz anyone. And I actually have the setting turned off, so if you start a message with buzz, that message get's ignored.

yeah sometimes i will buzz them and sometimes send them a message. I am pretty loud most of the time, so i would usually go for the buzz first. Lol it is not that shocking when someone buzzez me, i like a nice surprise.

yahoo chat was good few years back, now it has gone worst, now it only allows to chat using there very heavy messenger with tons of popups, that mesenger is too slow and heavy, and also does lots of unnecessary things, install there toolbar in ie and firefox and so on. becoz of there yahoo messenger i have left yahoo chat, yahoo chat is good for finding a girl friend

Yeah, I have that habbit. More often I use to start a chatting session with "buzz" rather than "hello". I think it will be some sort of alert to the friends or person we know in the yahoo chat and it would be some sort of signal for the strangers to invite them to chat. Since many years, I have the habit starting a yahoo chat conversation with buzzing and I think its one of the cool feature in yahoo chat and I get used of it very well.

Buzz is normally used to alert someone who is online but not at the desk. I use it for annoying friends sometimes as well
