What do you miss?

I have just come back from a few days away and apart from myLot (of course) I really missed my own bedroom. I had to share a bed with my son whilst away and he was all over the place. I like the way my own bed sheets smell and I am used to the type of comfy mattress I have. I love the way the sun shines in through my orange curtains in the morning and the clock beside my bed so I can always see what time it is.
So what do you miss most when you go away apart from myLot? What are you glad to see or get back to when you have been away?

I have spent much of my adult life away from home Humbug. But my absolute favourite is turning into my own street and thinking "I'm home". Apart from the family I think that my next favourite and excuse me here, is sitting on my loo! I don't mind using strange loos, but there is no loo like my own loo. LOL.

Ok, I said the other day that I didn't think you were strange but.....no loo like your own loo? What, does your seat fit your backside just right because of a groove left by years of sitting on it, or something?

I AM strange! I like to sit there and contemplate life. I like the familiarity of the surroundings. The seat is custom moulded, but you've given me an idea now. If racing car drivers can have their seats moulded to their shapes why not loo sitters? LOL. Look, there's some nice men in white coats come to take me away. I do hope that you will all visit me in the Funny Farm.

I usually just miss my own home, and surroundings. I also miss my s/o and my dog, since normally roadtrips are made alone to go to my daughter's. I enjoy getting away and seeing my daughter and son-in-law, and I do have my own bedroom there, but it's still nice to get back home. Although I can sleep alone, I sleep much better just knowing he's there with me.

I generally miss my pets if they have to stay and I have to go! Besides that I miss my bed also, sometimes hotels can really disgrace your back, and all my things! When you go travel away from home is like a new temporary home that you did not choose, so you can like a little, maybe if was 5 stars then would be better than home, other than that, I want to stay at my home!

Well for me i miss my bed too my computer as well coz I do a lot of things here.. Most of all I mis my pets and my mom's cooking... Of course I like being able to enjoy a vacation or sleepovers but at the end of the day you still crave for the comfort of your own home. I love my dog Mac 'coz he really won't sleep until i've come home and unless he's sure that I'm home, he'll wait by the gate. My mom also has dinner prepared for me every time I go home so I'd really miss her cooking... (i'm an only child so she spoils me.. hehe)...

I find some disscusions interesting.
I like reading them.
Today, I went to my friend's birthday party.
When I came back, I couldn't wait to open the computer and read mylot discussions.

The food we eat at home is what I can't wait to get back to. While away, restaurant food and take out and stuff like that gets old. Even while visiting friends or relatives, as well meaning as they may be, their cooking, no matter how good, just ain't like ours here at home. We eat what we like, prepared exactly how we like it. Might sound funny, but I can taste the "family" in our homecooking. Gawd, all of a sudden, I'm famished.

Hi there calcynic
I must admit I am pretty sick of McDonald's no matter how convenient it is. The very thought of one right now makes my stomach churn. We hardly ever eat there and I use it as a treat for my kids but we have had 2 in the last week and that is enough to last me a lifetime!
Cheers

I just miss my home in general when I am away. I enjoy my visit, where ever I go, but there is no place like my own home. I, too, like my bed. I don't sleep well away from home. I miss my pillow (which I could take with, but always forget). I miss being able to just wander around, doing whatever. I, like pike, turn onto my street and think, "I'm home!"

Hi iyah10
I do hope it wasn't too heart wrenching for you. I went back to work when my first baby was only 6 weeks old and everytime I put my hands near my face I could still smell the disinfectant liquid I had used to sterilize his bottles with that morning and that brought a tear to my eye but I slowly got over it!!
Thanks for your response!

To tell you the truth, when I go away I do not miss a thing! In fact if we are in our usual holiday haunt then I never want to come home. We only go away about once a year and never go anywhere really apart from that week but I can honestly say that there is not one thing that I miss or want to get back to see.
