I am curious as to why people place so much importance on having perfect looking teeth and if people dont have perfect teeth that are perfectly straight people always seem to notice and comment negatively or treat such people differently. Is society as whole really so shallow?

Well actually, I know the scientific answer for this, and it makes so much sense in a way! When we were still living in caves and hunting and gathering, those with bad teeth were not the best breeding material, because in nature if you have bad unhealthy teeth it is very likely that you will die, if you do not have teeth it is hard to eat, and also a tooth infection back then could kill you since there was no dental care at all then. In nature, if a wolf has bad teeth it will naturally die, and also it will have less mates, if any at all. The stronger your teeth the more likely you will live long and have more mates, and that was the meaning of life back then, the instinct just carried on to now... and now many don't know why they don't like someone with bad teeth, but little do they know that it's instinct and it's not because they are unattractive, they are just unattractive because in nature they would be a danger to have! I hope I helped, happy mylotting, and have a great day!
