I used to have an ex-girlfriend that's so loving henna, and I'm not just talking about the erasable henna tattoo, but she will be donning henna on her hair, on her hands and feet' fingers and anything which she could put on henna, she would. Crazy, but true, LOL.

Henna tattoos are very common in India.. From prints on hands for marriages.. to all sorts of funky tattoos being applied these days.. You can buy a kit which has a small block.. with authentic designs made on it.. Henna preparation.. Once its all ready.. you just need to dip the block in the prep and then press it on your body.. Tada! Your done.. its as simple as that.. However.. these last only for a few days.. In Goa.. you have many many guys who specialize in making Henna tattoos.. You choose your design.. or make on yourself.. give it.. and rest is all free hand.. With the help of some Henna and a Match stick (as needle).. These usually last for upto 15 days.. But by around the 10th you would need some re-touching.. They look like ink tattoos and are hard to differentiate.. It all depends on the artist.. It is extremely difficult to find good henna artists.. Why would a tattoo guy make henna tattoos? And also.. you have to be really careful about the Henna you use.. You can easily lay your hands on harmful henna (yea.. just like ink).. and they can cause rash and worse case infections.. All in all.. Henna tattoos are extremely practical.. I had got one on my entire back during a trip to Goa.. Cheap.. did i mention they are extremely cheap? In about 10$ you can get your entire back tattooed!!

oh really? you have a henna kit? like you just put it on your body like a stamp? we dont have that in the country.. we just have henna guys do the art free hand, like in your country.. but in the philippines, we just put henna when it's summer and we are in the beach or when there are festivals, it's really an "in" thing.. and yes, i definitely agree with you about being careful on the kind of henna tattoo.. my friend got her leg scared because the henna tattoo that was used on her skin was not a good kind.. good thing i never experienced something like that!

When my wife and I first visited Boracay for our honeymoon, we wanted to try out having henna tattoos on our body. But due to low on money, we didn't got them on ourselves. hehe

it must really be that expensive eh?hehehe i heard they cost 200+ there.. or 100+ hehe. we have henna tattoo here in cebu for 25 pesos, 10 pesos or 50 pesos..hehe there are other artists who would ask for 100 per tattoo too. we have them during sinulog, a lot of them would do it on the streets.

I had one placed on the palm of my hand when I attended a wedding in India a year or so ago. It lasted about a week. It was a very basic one compared to the designs many of the women were getting but it was still an interesting experience! You do have to be careful where you get them done though because some people add chemicals to the henna to make the ink darker and last lomnger and this can cause a negative skin reaction. There is a little boy that was scarred because of the very same thing.

i know a friend who got scarred because of henna tattoo too, good thing she only put a very small design on her leg.. guess you should know what are the chemicals mix in the formula. and it would be best if you know the person who made it. i always have my friend make the tattoo for me, that way i am sure it's safe for my skin!

NO i've never had one but they do look very striking, espeically on Indian women when they are in their beautiful saris. I love the patterns that are usually associated with henna tattoos.

I think henna tattoos are pretty. There are so many unique, intricate designs. They may be just a fad to you, especially at the beach, but did you know henna actually helps keep your skin cool? That could be where the fad started. The tattoos wear off after a while, but they'll stay during those hot summer months and let you enjoy the beach even more. I don't know how sunscreen effects them though.

really? i didn't know that! but i am glad to have learned it.. that's why there are so many people wanting to have henna in the beach eh.. but aside from the cooling effects that they have on the skin, i love their lovely designs too. and it's just look good on the skin.
