A well marketed and well positioned mascot can definitely benefit a brand but it is a massive challenge in getting it out there and recognised in the market. This is why you find that there are actually very few out there. Michelin Man, Pilsbury Doughboy and other well known mascots for brands are the result of literally millions of dollars of promotion and the collaboration of the minds of very savvy marketers. Any company that is able to create a mascot for their brand that allows for even the mascot alone to be seen and then the brand to be instantly recognised in parallel without it being blatantly stated as wrods alongside will fare well in any market. The company I represent does not have a mascot no. But the logo as our brand is equally important and our goal too is to have this logo recognisable as the company name. At least in the industry we represent! Its like the golden arches of McDonalds and Ronald McDonald. You see the golden arches and instantly know it is McDonalds. You see Ronald and the same thing is instantly known. Yet in both cases the word "McDonalds" has never needed to be stated. We as consumers just know! It's very clever when people get this right when you really think about it!

Most welcome! Yes we have the "Ronald McDonald Houses" in my home country as well. I think it is an amazing thing they have done to help families like this. In a sense I thank God that the burgers aren't still 17c too! Think how fat we would all be if they were still that cheap! lol.
