Obama selects Joe Biden as Running Mate - Good Choice?

Joe Biden (D) accepted to run as Obama's runningmate for the presidential election. Do you think it was a good choice? I have a mixed reaction. As far as complementing Obama on foreign policy issues, it's a good choice. As far as being a debater, he's a good choice - though debating doesn't necessarily translate into victory - good speech skills does, and there is a fine line between the two skills. He's met Obama's requirement for being selected - someone who will speak his mind during cabinet meetings and someone who could step in and assume the duties of President. Obama has said, he won't select a runningmate based on helping to win an election. And it appears he has kept his word. Whether true or not, there is an appearance that has used the same strategy the current president, George W. Bush did - to select a vice-president who was selected to advise Obama in areas where he is deficient. The problem with Biden is that he ran for president, then dropped out early on. You just don't do that - if you are going to pick a competitor from the primaries, you ask the person who finishes in second. Otherwise, it is seen as disrespectful. The early analysis says that Hillary Clinton's supporters are okay with the selection, but i don't think so - picking a woman other than Clinton would have added fuel to the fire, but also picking a candidate who dropped out early in the race over Clinton may also fuel the fire of Clinton's supporters.

I will accept his choice as running mate, however, I was really hoping he would pick Clinton to be his VP.
