i bought a cd today and when i went into another shop on the way out,it set off the alarm, i had to have my bags searched and the lady eventually realised what it was and let me leave, half the people in the shopping precinct saw me setting the alarm off and being searched and when i went out of course it went out again,it was so humiliating, this happens to me quite a lot even when i dont have anything that could set the alarm off, does this happen to anyone else?

yeah. This situation happed to me for several times in the supermarkets. It was humilitating and upsetting. The thing is I didn't do any stealing but people around me thought I had done that. Sometimes that really freaks me out even after I'm proved to be innocent, because that really has bad effect on my public image and shopping mood. I think staff in stores whose exit and entrance have alarms should check out the alarm system often in order to make sure it will work effectively and normally. Good service should leave customers trust, good mood, good reputation, etc, not humilitation or disgust. That sucks.

it does, it is embarassing, people say oh they let you go on, but most people have already made up their mind that you are a thief by then

I have had this happen to me a couple of times and it is embarrassing. Because they search your bags and your receipt and basically people in the store turn and look at you. I hate that, but of course they find things that would trip it and let you go on.

Personally, no. But i was with a friend at the mall just yesterday and he bought a clarks cd. Every store he entered and exited, the alarm went off. I think it is just getting ridiculous how the U.S is trying to prevent many things. For example, airport security. You go to the airport nowadays and it takes 2+ hours just to get to your gate. Many things have just gotten out of hand and its just become such a nuisance. Sortof off topic, but next time don't feel embaraced. No one is going to say or think badly of you.
