It's been raining here since Monday afternoon. I know I shouldn't be whining or complaining... For crying out load the people in Melbourne have been devastated!
I simply can't help it, I feel like the weather... dreary and ho hum. I move around the house feeling so blah and moving so slow. Now we have flood warnings until late this afternoon. I wish the rain would stop and I could snap out of it already!!Does this happen to you when the weather is dreary for days? What do you do to snap out of it?

Where I am from, the rain never ends but it doesn't often flood. The rain isn't going to go away. Either you are going to have to leave for a day or two to somewhere where it isn't raining as much or you are going to have to embrace the rain. Go take a walk with a friend or relative outside and enjoy the supposed horrid weather. Then come back inside, dry off after a good long walk, and drink some hot cocoa in front of a television with family/friends. A good movie would do go too!

When it rains here it rains. I am used to what you are used to - rain for about 10 minutes a day and thats it. I never realized it rained so much here in Pittsburgh. It doesn't stop!!! Days and days of rain. How do we deal??? Well there is always the mall and chucky cheese. There is a lot to do around here indoors because we have a real winter not like there where every thing is an outside activity. Some times we just sit in the house with a movie and other times we play in the rain! (Lu loves the rain)

I have Seasonal Effective Disorder(S.A.D). This happens during the winter months when it is cold and dreary outside. It is a heavy depression that is hard to shake. There is a treatment for it called "Light Therapy." There are special lights that you turn on that are brighter than usual and they help to lift your mood. Because I do not have access to this kind of therapy, my Psychiatrist advises me to turn on all of the lights in my apartment. Since I do not pay an electric bill, I am able to do this freely and it helps.

I hate it when it rains, it just goes all dark and miserable and you can't do anything because you will get wet and itchy and miserable. I tend to kick myself out of a rut by closing the blinds and turning the light on and doing something that makes me feel good, such as inviting friends round and having a drink, watching a film or going on the internet. The reason I turn the light on is because sunlight makes people happy and light is artificial sunlight.

Thanks for the inspiration. Just after posting this my son showed up to visit. I hadn't seen him for a few weeks and that really made my day! So your theory of inviting friends is correct, just I didn't do the inviting
The rain still has not stopped but I'm feeling a bit happier now. Have a great day!
