Although he will probably never be in the Hall of Fame because of MLBs guidelines on what it takes to be a Hall of Fame player do you think he should be? Do you think his career(including most all time hits)is good enough to be in the Hall of Fame despite betting on baseball. For me personally I don't think he should be in the Hall of Fame. He broke a rule knowing he could be banned from baseball for life and I think the rule should be upheld.

I differ from all of the other responses in that yes, I think he should be in the HOF. He is one of the greatest hitters ever and he played every game like it was for the World Series. For his performance and the numbers he put up, he deserves to be in the HOF. Rose gambled on baseball when he was no longer a player. It is his numbers as a player that should get him into the HOF. If we were to judge and ban all previous HOFs who did not portray the right image then many others who are currently in the HOF would have to be removed beginning with the Babe for his womanizing and drinking habits. You don't have to like and agree with the actions of possible HOF inductees for them to get in.

So, why is Rose excluded because of his habits? He did not bet on baseball while he was a player and it is what he did as a player that should get him in the HOF. It is not as a manger that he would enter.

If Clemens and Bonds both get in if they are convicted of lying under oath, then Pete Rose should get in because I feel that those crimes are much greater than gambling but that's just my opinion. However, I don't see him ever getting in no matter how many write-ins he gets. I don't think he'll get in nor probably will he anytime soon.

I'm not taking anything Clemens had done. By his record, he would get in but it's going to be interesting. If he is found not guilty, then I do think he will get inducted. 350 plus wins is pretty impressive and over 4,000 strikeouts. Based upon stats, those guys would get in but it comes down to right or wrong what happens off the field based upon scandal.
As far as I know, Clemens hasn't been officially charged with perjury. I do think his public image has been destroyed even if he is found innocent of all charges. Bonds as well but he's been charged but no trial, which hopefully will happen soon so we can get this over with.

So I figure you probably think Bill Clinton should have not remained president because he lied under oath. Clemens was such a standout nice guy and probably the greatest pitcher ever. Clemens said he doesn't care whether hes in the HOF or not. You can't take away the memories of how great these athletes were whether people agree with the HOF rules or not.

If you throw away what he did... just looking at him as a player... then definately he should be in the HOF. But when you consider what he did... i dont think he should be. And while we're on the HOF subject... neither should Barry Bonds be in he HOF.
