I am sure many of us have heard about identity theft. I am one of the victims, somebody has been using my real name sending spam emails. I have reported this time and time again but no result and nothing is done. You may think that identity theft only happens to those with money and fame, well guess what I am just regular person trying to make ends meet. What I don't understand is that nobody does anything, as if they are waiting for some new law or regulation to act on. In my case, someone used my email address on yahoo that contains my real name, to send spam emails all over the world and yet when I reported this to yahoo, all they are saying is that they are investigating it and they can't go further because this person doesn't really access my email account he just copies and pastes my email address as sender. But since my real name is used on these emails, I can't help feeling trapped and I am thinking not to use yahoo email addresses anymore. Do you have similar experience? Maybe not emails but something else? Is it solved? or do they just leave it hanging like yahoo did?

I never had email problems like you did. Someone did steal my debit card number one time and paid a cell phone bill and made some other charges. Since I download my bank stuff daily, I caught it right away. The bank gave me the number to clearing house and I stopped all future charges with them plus they reversed the charges made with my card. They said they couldn't prosecute???? That really made me mad. But I did get my money and my bank followed through with getting the paperwork processed so that I got my money back into my account within a few days.

good thing you are diligent keeping up with your bank transactions
but really strange that even in that case where the thief's name is obvious you can't take him to court? if he does it again your bank is going to have a lot of explanation to do
