For me, it took longer to learn how to upload the picture than to find the right picture. I guess both. There are some who don't know how to upload the picture and others who haven't found the right picture yet.

Personally I think you are right by saying that they don't know how to change it, I guess it can be confusing and frustrating to some, how do they go about getting their avatar up, it doesn't have to be their picture, although I think it's more personal and much nicer to see someone's face on their avatar like mine, but it's preference but it would be nice to see a picture or image at least rather than blank which is a little offputting and distant.

Some people may not know how and some may not want to or, like you said, don't have anything they want to use. I generally don't think much about it.

look at my avatar. i've been a mylotter for over a year. i'm not here to make friends specifically or even earn money. when i joined this site last year, i found some discussions really meaningful and thought this was a good place to share thoughts. but things started deteriorating and i started getting bored of this place. i'm also not interested in propogating any money making sites or so to keep updating my profile. so for me, its plain laziness that i dont have an avatar.

It may be that some do not have the capacity to upload photos, or do not know how. Some people also consider it to be more private and anonymous to be the little green myLot guy. It is their preference. My husband was one who did not know how, or want to change, so I changed his for him.

i guess one might be a possible reason was theyre new and just trying first to know the way around and the other possible one maybe because they havent have the time to upload their photos or still thinking on the process if its good to upload or not..

Hi there, I think some people joining mylot site initially are just to see whether it is really an interesting site, so they care more about is to participate other activities like posting, uploading images and other first. If they really feel that this is an ideal site and worth to stick to, then they would replace with another avatar which they are fond of. The rest don’t matter much about their avatars and what they are interested most is to make good posts which could bring more advantage
posting and have a nice day.

It is usually new people that have blank avatars. As people are here longer you will see that they will hav avatars. I dont know any one who has had over one thousand responses that has a blank avatar. I think most people recognize you by your avatar and will answer your discussions accordingly. Watch next time you'll notice.

My avatar was blank for a long long time, just because I didn't see it as something important to spend my time doing. When I did decide to do it, it took me quite a while to find a photo which I liked enough to represent me. I guess there may be allot of people out there in the myLot community like I me.

Hi friend, some of our friends are using their default avatar in Mylot. I don't really like that. We always need to put some avatar there. Otherwise we cant find them at one glance. I can find you in mylot page without looking your name. Avatar is brand.

I have often wondered the same thing. I like to see an avatar that says a little something abut the person. It doesn't always have to be a photograph of the person, but a little something is nice. In my case I don't use my real photo, rather my flags, but either way, my avatar des say smething abut me.

I am not sure. Perhaps they don't know how to set their photo. So their avatar is still the default avatar. When I was a new member, I also spent some time to figure out how to make my own photo for the avatar. It's so boring to have the default avatar because others may not remember you.

INitally i was thinking of keeping my avatar blank because i dun see any point in changing it.. lol =D ANd i was thinking if i change it, i will have the tendency to wanna keep changing and it doesn't really look good to my frezn on mylot, as they will get confused on which avatar i'm actually using.. hehe =D
Thus i guess they whom leave at the moment as still finding the pic thay like most and unique, b4 they change out of the blank ^_^ hehe

hi sophialin,
yes, i also notice it, especially the new user. i think they just don't know how to do or haven't get time to set it up. maybe they also just don't care about it, which is ok in my opinion. how about your avatar? i think amongst all mylotters here, you have the most healthy avatars you always choose fruit image for your avatar.

Many people don't have a computer of their own. I used to blog from the county Library. They don't let people bring a disk with a picture on it, or save a picture to the computer from the internet to be loaded up on a website.
