It's a very simple way but i like it: put some water in a pot and add some salt; then when water boil put in it the rice....when it's ready, put it in a dish. Then add oil or butter, the one you prefer. if you add butter, melt it in a small pot with one or two leaves of salvia....!!! wow i'm hungry now!!

this is a stage of cooking rice. - This is the stage that the rice looks like when you put the lid on tight.
I'm sorry that you have lost your grandparents and that they didn't teeach you how to cook. I don't like to use a rice cooker because the one I have has to be watched very carefully. I don't know how rice is packaged in your country but here in the United States each package tells how to measure and cook it. Different varieties of rice take different amounts of water to cook. The rule of thumb is 2 cups of liquid for 1 cup of rice. The brown rice takes more water. Wash the rice until the water runs clear. bring the rice and water to a boil (big bubbles) and turn the heat down so the rice simmers (Small bubbles)Cover the rice with a lid at an angle so the steam can escape. watch the rice so that when you see big dent in the rice put the lid on tight. simmer it until most of the water is gone. I cook om an electric stove so I turn the heat off and let the rice finish cooking. I hope that this helps. Here is a site that shows you each stge the rice looks like as it cooks. http://chinesefood.about.com/od/chinesecookingbasics/ss/cook_rice_photo_6.htm

Cooking rice is luckily pretty easy to learn. You want to put in twice as much water as rice, and let it boil until all the water is absorbed into the rice. For example, if you want 1 cup of rice, put in 2 cups of water. Start it boiling, add the rice. And wait. Stirring occasionally.

I was taught to boil rice like pasta. Add about 4 cups of water to each cup of rice, boil until it's the texture that you desire, and then just pour off the water. I know it's cheating, but it's about the only way I can cook rice without burning the pan and making a mess. You could also look into buying a rice cooker -- they're the best! I'm sorry to hear of your loss, as well.

Here it is the answer to your problems, a rice cooker. Hassle free. You just need a rice cooker, electricity, and rice. But if you want it the old fashion way were you cook it in a stove, here is how you would cook it. First of all, wash the rice twice to remove dirt and other things in it. Watering it depends on how many scoops you've made and it also depends on what kind of rice you cook. You measure the rice by your fingers. Flatten the rice then measure how deep it is by placing you finger tip to the base of your cooker to the top of the rice you've flatten. Thats how much you put water on the cooker, measure the water by putting the tip of your finger to the top of the rice that you've flatten then put water on it until the mark on your finger is reached by it. If you want it in Filipino just message me. Hope you understood it. Happy cooking and mylotting.

Simple, wash the rice 2 times. If you are using a rice cooker, just pour the water until it is on the appropriate line. For example, 2 cups of rice, you just fill the rice cooker with water until it is leveled on the appropriate markings on the side. If you are using a pot, measure it with your middle finger, the first lining of your middle finger is the marking.

I also use the pasta method. Although, I will generally add salt and parsley to the water. For me this is easiest as I don't have a rice cooker.

This is funny jamesnogra. You don't know how to cook rice? I think rice is the first one that I learned to cook. I personally learned it from my mother. I used to cook rice since elementary so that I could bring some lunch at school. Now, I don't do it because I am just too tired to cook a simple rice. Haha. But anyways, try to learn it! It is just simple! Water and rice and the stove, then it's all over. If you have rice cooker, much much better. Good luck with your learning to cook rice!

Cooking can be simple just go ine kitchen and experiment with food, thats what I use to do when i was younger and still do this day if I'm not sure on how to cook something. Now on cooking rice never use the box rice its always hard the packages seem to work better for me. You just add your rice, seasoning, butter, and water and bring to a boil and then let simmer until ready. You'll get it just start by following recipes the first time then after that you'll learn to do it your own way. Hope this was helpful.=)
