Dieting the right way can change your life. I went from weighing 265 lbs. to weighing 165 lbs. I did it the healthy way and it took me 2 years to do it in total. It isn't easy, it is just about controlling what you eat and how you eat. You can still enjoy "junk" food sometimes, but by reserving the amounts and times you do it. I am at my goal weight right now and it has been 10 months since I am off the diet. I tried many things, but to tell you the truth, LA Weight Loss really worked for me as a jump start. You also must have the mind set to do it and not give up.

Well it can be good, but only if you change your eating life-style permanently, it is unhealthy to go back and forth from a diet to back to normal eating. Two years ago I went vegetarian to improve my health (blood type A is thicker so it's less healthy to eat meat), and I did improve it by just not eating meats, and over the span of two years I went from 136 pounds to 106 pounds, which is very healthy for my short height, now I feel so great and I look it too, I am sure I have added years to my life by just eating more natural foods. It really depends on how you "diet", mine wasn't really a diet, but others would do what I did temporarily to lose weight, and that would not be good. I heard that if you don't eat meat for a while, and then all of a sudden start eating it again you get very sick because your body has to learn to digest it again, when it is so used to having other foods, so no diets can be unhealthy, but if you do them well and have them for the rest of your life, then they are very healthy! Happy mylotting, and have a great day or night with whatever timezone you are in!

I am glad to hear of your great achievement!!! Interestingly I am a blood type A too. Maybe we are not supposed to eat meat. If you look at the way our teeth are shaped it does not really tell you that we are meat eaters. You have a point, maybe diets can be healthy if applied correctly. If not-disaster. Have a lovely day/night.

Well, I think it depends on what type of diet it is. If a person eats TOO MUCH and becomes obese, then the person needs to do a HEALTHY diet. I love food and I love snack...but if I don't control myself, then it's dangerous. For some people who have diabetes, for example, they need to do a controllable healthy diet. Otherwise they may endanger their lives.

I bit agree that dieting is not healthy for our body. But we should plan our diet as much as to have more proteins and vitamins rather to intake of other extra calories, carbohydrates etc which increases our weight and expands shape of our body riduculously.Along with diet we have to do regular exercise as well....Thanks for choosig very good topic for discussion...Regds

I agree, if you discipline yourself your body will respond positively. I for one will never go on a diet because we underestimate our body's abilities and the power of positive thinking. Thank you for responding...... It boosted my confidence as I am a new subcriber!!

I think that yes, some diets can be unhealthy. It really depends on the diet, and how you go about it. If you do it the right way, making sure you eat enough, and take in the things your body needs, its okay.

Dieting is definitely healthy if you do it the right way. I believe starving in the name of dieting is not good but if you eat healthy foods like green leafy veegtables (spinach, lettuce) and veggies like carrots, then it is healthy. Also grilled meats. So I guess its not all about the word "diet" but its all about "eating right".

Dieting can be unhealthy if you go about it the wrong way.
Diets where people eat less, i would consider that to be unhealthy because you are not getting all your vitamins and minerals.
A good diet, in my opinion, is eating healthier foods, portioning your meals and also at least exercising for 30 min a day.

i dont think dieting is the right thinking.. maybe change your diet.. as in, change what you eat... but with all the suppliments and such that are out there, i dont think many of them are healthy at all.

well in my opinion i think that maybe a balanced diet is healthy. but a diet where you are trying to lose a lot of wieght to the extent where you are starving your self then no that is not healthy and can cause problems. but still some poeple lose weight and get past it but others not so successful.

Many people mistake diet for eating less. Diet is WHAT YOU EAT whether you're trying to loose weight or not. If you eat mcdonalds everyday thats what your diet consists of.

It really depends on what the diet is though. Dieting by starvation or skipping meals is not good at all. Not only it deprives the body of nutrients, it messes up the metabolism and balance of the body. It does make weight loss faster in some cases but so will it make us lose strength. Good diets consists of a balanced diet with all the major food groups considered on a daily basis.
Constantly eating vegetables, fruits, fish, etc. is good for the body. A good diet doesn't make us starve but rather should make us feel full always. Small meals throughout the day oftentimes work better than having 3 big meals. But of course, if we want to lose weight, we still need to exercise.

it is definately not healthy to diet, if you want to reduce your weight you can stop over eating, you can stick to vegetables or atleast avoid eating stuff which is very high calorie
