Hi, Ive never had a credit card before, but I think its finally time to get one. I have a checking and a savings account opened with a Chase bank, and they offer a 'student' card that I thought looked pretty good. Im VERY responsible with my money, so its like im going to go crazy on the card. I only really want it to start building my credit score, Ill probably by like a candy bar or maybe my gas with it, just so I can pay the bill on time and up my score. The only problem is that I dont know too much about credit cards. I just basically need to know if the student card is a good deal. There's no annual fee and stuff, and I did some research and it looks great to me, I just want some second opinions before I apply. Thanks! Here's the card: http://www.chasecreditcards.com/student-plusone-mastercard.asp

This looks like an awesome card for a student. 0 APR for 3 months then after 14.99% variablea or 19.99% variable. Not bad at all. As long as you make your payments and don't get out of control this card will help you out in the long run. Since it is from a bank - makes them harder to get - it will look better on your credit report than a non-bank card or even a department store card. When I was in college I used mine to buy my gas every week and then paid it off and I had an awesome credit score.

Okay, so it looks good? I'll apply for it tonight then. What do you think the chances are of me getting it?

Usually student cards are pretty easy to get. As long a syou don't have any debt and a source of income you should be okay.

Looks like I got the card. :) I noticed today there is now a whole new credit card account in my Chase account. One more question, do you get credit if you dont do anything with the card at all? Or do you have to at least buy things? Basically, am I going to improve my credit more by buying random things like gas every month and paying it off, or just not use it at all?
