I have doubts with this technology!

I saw in a local store yesterday of a device that will bridge connections to/and from computers and/or routers by linking it through electric wires of your home. Just plugin the device into any wall socket and plug your PC connected RJ45 into the device. Same for the other computer and/or router and you may share internet connection or a peripherals such as printer. This eliminates lengthy wires. But I have one question.. When I try to share my internet connection with this technology, how's the security? Will my neighbors accidentally have internet connection if I'll just share it at home?

I have not looked into this to read up on it, I am sure there are specifics on how this works I believe you have to have a matched set for this to work but I am not positive
