What do you do with your animals when you go on vacation and can't take them with you? I have a place I board mine that are terrific with my babies, but still....I know it's hard for them to be away from home. We just got back from a week away, and my Bassett Hound literally ate part of his pillow! Now, he's pooping out pillowcase and feathers!

I am fortunate that my parents live nearby and will take care of my baby...I just spent two weeks taking care of a friend's two young dogs - he didn't want to board them at a kennel because he wanted to keep them in a happy home. I did my best to treat them as I would want mine to be treated, and the two weeks went by really fast with everybody staying happy.
I still don't like to leave mine with anybody for very long, I miss her too much but after my experience taking care of someone elses, I think it wouldn't be too bad for her if she is kept busy. The two I looked after seemed happy enough after a day.
Take Care.

I hate to board my dog, I try to get a petsitter if at all possible. I just think he feels alot more comfortable either at home or at my friends house. I am going away this weekend as a matter of fact. I think my son is going to watch him though so he can stay home. If he has to be away from me I think that is the next best thing.

Oh, that's so sad! It really is hard to leave them isn't it. They miss you just as much as you miss them, if not more. I am very fortunate to have family close by. My sister keeps my dog and my dad comes by a couple of times a day to check on my cat. Well, hopefully the feathers are almost out and you, and your baby can get back to normal.

When I travel, I take my dog to the kennel at his vet's. And I leave my pet mouse with my boyfriend.
It's always hard leaving your animals behind when you travel! I always worry about them... even though I know they're in good hands!
