i really have some times in life where it just gets me down, like when things happen that i can't control and just listening to everything that is going on in todays world, i know that some things that are going on could have been stopped before it was started and i just don't know why people don't try and stop it, its just things like that that sometimes gets me down and i don't always knwo what to do, most of the times i will just talk to my girlfriend about whatever it is that is bothering me and i feel better afterwards...and then sometimes i just go for a walk or something like that and it helps me...so what do you do when life gets you down? thanks for taking the time to read my discussion and i hope that you decide to respond, and i hope that you all have a great day, and evening and the rest of the weekend is great as well!

Hi, JHL. I hope you don't think this is condescending, because I certainly don't mean i that way, but you'll outgrow it. Young people react much more emotionally to life than we older folks do. Youth is a troublesome time in our lives, and older is so much better!
If it's severe enough to require it, I strongly suggest counseling and/or medication. I don't think that's what you're saying, though. It seems more like teenage angst -- which lasts until about age 35.
You're in a great place for dealing with these things. At myLot we all share these things, and it's very helpful!

Hello jhl930
Not long ago I had a horrible arguement with my brother that really upset me and I don't get down easily but this did. I spoke to my best friend and my mother about it and then I felt much better so I guess that is what I do, talk about it.

We all go through such periods. During these trying times, we need all the help we could get from people who truly care for us.
My boyfriend has always been there for me during my most trying times. My parents have always been there too. I do have some friends who are very caring and thoughtful and they never leave me when I need them the most. Most importantly, I pray. Everyone may turn their backs on me but there's one up there whom I know would never desert me.

Hi,
I just try to remember that I can't control everything, realize that life has it's ups and downs, without the rain, it is difficult to really appreciate the sunshine and vice versa. I know it sounds so cliche, but acceptance really does help, so does time. Sometimes I will also make a point of doing some random act of kindness when I'm down (that's when it seems the hardest to do too)and it often lifts me up to see a stranger smile at me. I hope that helps you, be patient, time has a way of sorting us out if we just wait. Take care.
