Do you like big size dog or small size one?

I like big size dog much more because I think they seem to be much more understanding. We had a Shar Pei dog in the past. He died because he was old and ill. After that, we don't consider to have another dog. It's sad that he had left us for 3 years. The life is something unique, because you just can't find another replacement.

i'm sorry to hear about your loss. however, think of the joy that your shar pei had brought you. i'm sure a new pet will bring similar joy, if you ever decide to get one. it's never a replacement as it is unfair to your shar pei and the new pet. each is unique in their own way and i'm sure you'll find space in your heart to love both at the same time.
i prefer big sized dogs too. i like small dogs as well but i always fear i'm playing too rough. there is no such worry for big dogs. i'm not saying that i had injured a small dog before. it's just that some toy breeds look so fragile that i'm worried that a good hug from me will cause their ribs to fracture. cheers ;p

Hmm.. I dunno what I really like. Hehehe. I have a small dog, a Shih Tsu.
She's really baby-like. The advantage is that I can carry her and take her anywhere.
I want a big dog though. Because I got this feeling that I can use it as a pillow. I think that the cute-ness of a dog doesn't depend on its size. XD
I like both but I want to have a big dog. :)

Hi youless,
I love big dog more than small size dog! I can count on him more when I will be walking around..LOL! then, I don't need to carry it when we will be walking, he can manage himself a lot of time!
We love cute doggie too but we never tried having one, I just play with my friend's dog!

I was always a big dog person until I got my little pug's and now I am head over heels in love with them! They are like my little shadows and want to be with me all time, real people dog's they are
I love the look of the big dogs but they are way to much to look after and if you want to go in the car others cant go in the bac with them because they take up to much room etc where as a little dog can go anywhere with you and you can still play with them and they will sit on you lap while you watch tv while a big dog takes up the whole couch and you feel squashed, so nope a little dog for me from now on.

I'd rather have a large dog. If I wanted a gerbil I'd get one. I don't really understand the appeal of using smaller dogs like purses. I like all dogs, but I'd much rather have one that is kind of rugged and adventurous. But that's just me. I'm sorry to hear about your dog. Isn't that the worst? It's losing a member of your family.

I like small dogs. I thing they are cute and I don't really like big dogs because they are scary and a bit dangerous. I mean, if they become mad and bite someone, at least I can still handle the small ones lol.
My mom always like mini pomeranian, and she always have it around, until the doctor said that the dog fur is not good for her body because she had some kind of allergic. So we don't have any pets since.

Actually some large breeds are much gentler than some smaller breeds. For example, Great Danes and Irish Wolfhounds are the two biggest dogs that exist. Both of these breeds are less likely to accidentally bite you or be rough than smaller dogs like poodles, terriers, and cocker spaniels. It all depends on how well the owner teaches and trains the dog.

I love all dogs and I wish I could have one but the apartment building I live in doesn't allow pets of any kind. So I have to wait until the day I move to another place.

We have native dogs in my country... slangly called "Askal" or asong kalye/street dog... and some of them were in bred of dogs like german shepherd, doberman, rottweiler, etc... but slightly smaller... most are good guard dogs... so i do not really know which is the best...

Right now... i do not have a dog in the apartment... but i grew up always having a dog at home... but it was always the big ones... because the main purpose of having one it to protect out home... Our old house is not in a subdivision with security guards... so my mother opted to just have guard dogs... and they work like a charm...

Hi Aseretdd, you mentioned there was a time when you had a guard dog, what kind was it? In your opinion which do you think would make a better guard dog, a Doberman or a Rottweiler?

I love dogs no matter what size they are, because they are very smart and loving. Unfortunately I do not have any at the moment, but in the future when I will live in a big house I will buy one small dog just for fun and one big one for the safety of the house.

Morning, dear youless. I also like big-size dog, but I still worry much about its being very aggressive and offensive. Each time I have to walk past a huge dog, I fear scared and worry that I will be attacked. I only had two poodles as my pet dog at a different time. The second beautiful poodle of ours was later sent to someone, which still makes me miss it so much.
I am so sorry that your big-size dog is away from you for three years. Yeah, there will be another one that can replace the original one, as each one has a different feature. Have a good day to begin with, dear youless.

I like small dogs. I think small dogs look so cute and adorable. They look more like puppies. They less than a big dog and there poo is smaller than a big dogs'. They are easy to pick up and carry since they are light too.

I would prefer a small dog. I am the type to baby an animal. This causes them to become spoiled and determined sometimes. I fear that if I had a big dog, It may run all over me. I would be fearful of a big dog if it growled. I understand we are not supposed to show fear to a dog but I get intimidated. I love my dog. He is a pomeranian. He has more clothes than I do. Every morning as I get up and get dressed, he goes into his basket and gets the shirt he wants to wear. Did I mention he loves classical music. If you put opera on, he will sing forever. lol dl

I like all sizes but I prefer bigger dogs because little dogs can be so annoying sometimes because they bark too much and big dogs can be barkers but it seems the little ones are more noisy. I also fear i'm always gonna step on them! lol
I also like bigger dogs because they are more fun to play with sometimes and you can play with them rougher and more games and they make good cuddlers too!
My dog is big dog. He weighs 65lbs, he's a pitbull mix.
my parents wanted me to get a little dog but i really didn't but was willing to settle on a little dog simply because i wanted one that bad lol but then i came home with my dog saber lol and he was 25lbs when i got him but they fell in love with him.. everyone did. He's just so cute and lovable.
i'm sorry for you lost and your right. You can't find another "replacement"

Aww, I am sorry about your dog . they really do become like part of the family . Right now all i have are smaller dogs and grew up with smaller dogs too . I have a jackie /chi mix now and she is the best ! very loving and i dont mind that she is needy . Maybe one day i would like to have a bigger dog like a black lab . i have always wanted one of those .

I prefer a larger dog - they seem to have more mellow personalities than smaller dogs. We have an older female lab-mix and a younger male black lab. The smallest dog I have ever owned was a toy poodle that we were never able to teach to be completely housebroken!

I live with 2 massive dogs--one boxer and one lab who is over 100lbs-- and 1 small dog--a Jack Russell Terrier who thinks and acts like a big tough dog. The boxer is big and doesn't bark at all. Ever. The Jack and Lab both bark A LOT. The Jack actually makes a much better guard dog than the big dogs, because she is much more alert and the big dogs are lazy and slow. The Jack is aggressive and more likely to bite than the bigger dogs, but I still prefer her to the bigger dogs. She is active and full of life and the big dogs just lay around.
It's cool that you had a Shar Pei. Not many people can successfully own them because they have more medical issues than any other dog. Throughout my life I have owned 8 dogs, but never a Shar Pei. I am not quite brave enough to do so. I know all about Shar Peis though....I even wrote this article on them:
http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/903913/dog_health_shar_pei.html?cat=53
However, I suggest replacing your dog. Of course, your new dog would not be the same, but they would be just as loveable.
