well my husband used to take his car to work but with the rise in petrol cost he has shifted to his bike and sometimes he does car pool that is much cost effective...we mostly use the bike and when we travel to another city on vacation or holiday we normally use the railways as the air tickets are very expensive and not really affordable unless an emergency it almost costs our full months salary to travel by air for the family...how do you travel to your workplace? and how do you travel on vacations or holidays? can you afford air travel?

Hi Neetu
i use my car to come to my office, sure its getting exopensive but its 50 km from my place, but the advanatage i have is that we are two brothers who work in near by office
And to go to other city we use our car, though its expensive but its fun as u can stop anywhere u want and u r at liberty
By Air, its really very expensive, cant afford, but luckily all my relatives are in city i or max by 300-400 km, so car is Ok
Take care

It has been only one month since i bought a bike. Earlier i used to travel to my work place either by a shared auto or would company my friend on his bike. but it would only be rare when we would both leave at the same time from home or office. I have been thinking of buying a bike since a long time but then i had a trip home so thought of taking it after i come back. Now, i travel via my bike to work to and fro between office and home.
Planning about my holidays, well we friends have been planning to make a road trip to some nice place nearby but haven't really executed the plan anytime. Rest, if i plan to go to a far off place, i normally travel by train. I have been on a plane only one and that too after i came into job. I dont think i can afford plane tickets too since it takes away half my salary if i plan to visit home by a plane.
Moreover, There is no airport at my hometown, so there is no point travelling by a plane. Even if i would go on holidays, then already it would be causing me so much money, whats the point spending more on travel.

Needy girls!! I dont think if there are any. Girls are too clever in this respect. They would always find a boyfriend who has a bike himself. So poor me!!
Anyway, i didnt buy a bike for that reason, but just wish some damn beauty take up my back seat someday.

In my home country to use trains and buses to travel about. Travel is my top hobby so I will not stop flying even though the airline's fuel surcharge is a lot of money. I will try to visit countries where I get value for money once I get there. There are cheap flights with budget airlines to Europe and some charter airlines that do cheap long haul flights. Last minute holidays are sold with a heavy discount so these are a possibility. I have a 15 month old toddler son and whilst he is below the age of 2 he flies cheaply. The train is my favorite way to travel and it is expensive to do in my home country, flying is pricey and traveling by bus is cheap. I used to do much cycling and would like to get a child seat for my bike.

I commute on my way to work, but there's a shuttle service just 3mins. away from my home so it's easier to commute. It's a bit expensive compared to taking the bus but atleast it's much faster and you get sure seats. I've only experienced riding on an airplane last 2005 when I, my sister and my mom went on a vacation to Singapore, Malaysia and Batam Island in Indonesia. But everytime we go home to our province, we have our own private SUV.

as much as I wanted to switch from an automobile to a bike, roads here in the Philippines is not bicycle-safe, well our roads here aren't that smooth, the public utility vehicles are umm... undisciplined, and other factors that makes bicycle and motorcycles appear on the front page of your local newspaper. as for vacations, well my option is still the automobile and or airplane depending on the destination, public transportation here is so slow, they always tends to not make you on time.

I have a car but don't use it much. It's a Toyota that gets about 30 miles per gallon, 40mpg if I travel on the freeway that has no traffic lights and I can maintain a steady speed.
Unfortunately, I don't have a regular job but if I did this is a small town and it wouldn't take much to drive to work. We also have buses but the bus stop is too far for me to walk with my arthritis.
Flying is not an option anymore for many people. Last year it cost me $300 each to have my sons fly here for Christmas. This year it's more than double! I will have to do a lot of writing and myLotting to help with that expense! They're both in college so don't have any money.
This situation is really getting ridiculous.

We always travel by car, well SUV lol. The company my husband works for pays for all of our gas or petrol if you will. We haven't flown since last year when we went on our honeymoon, and our tickets were a gift from the best man of our wedding, so we don't even know what airline prices are. If I'm not mistaken your fuel is much more expensive than ours are.

Same here, me and my husband too use a two wheeler to go to our workplaces. For vacations we generally prefer travelling by train as it is comparitively cheaper. But some times when there are time constraints then we travel by air too. Personally i like to travel by tain as there we have nothing to do and we get lots of time to chat with each other.
