I was raised by guardians, my mother passed when I was 12 years old.
Having said that.. Who do you appreciate more in your life?I appreciate my uncle (a uncle by marriage) he was kindest, sweetest man I ever have known, not only me everyone could count on him for anything, if he only had a dime to his name if you needed it he would give it to you. He taught me how to drive and help me got my drivers license, he helped me get my first car. I remember once I had to go to the hospital and my grandmother (his mother-in-law) called him to take me to the hospital no hesitation he arrived. His wife my aunt (my deceased mother's sister) on the other hand always wanted you to give her something if she did anything for you. Not my Uncle Curtis he never asked for a thing.
PS.. He was also the handyman of the family he could fix anything. Cars, plumbing, lay tile, you name it he could do it.
I really miss my Uncle Curtis he died a few years ago.

This sounds just like my Uncle who brought me up from the age of 1. He was always Daddy for me. And he was very distantly related. His wife was my dads cousin. But that did not stop him or his wife and children giving me all the love that I needed to grow. My Daddy is no more but today I am closer to his kids than my own biological family.

I apreciate my dad most of all. I have always been a daddy's girl. My dad and I can talk about anything. He's the one I go to with my problems, and he is always there for me even if it's just for a shoulder to cry on. He is now in his 70's and lives in Michigan in the summer, but in the winter,he and my mom pack a little suitcase and come down to their winter home. Their winter home is situated on our 3 acres here in Florida. We don't charge them anything for electricity, rent ect. We just want to be with them. My dad also is very smart and always wants to tinker around the house and yard. I let him do whatever he wants and if I'm having a good day,I go out and help him.My dad is always trying to give us money and help. We always tell him no and he used to make it impossible to tell him no. But now what I do is if he gives me money,I give it to my mom to keep and when they get home in the spring, she gives it back to him!!I can't even think of losing my daddy or my mom for that matter,it just makes me cry. God Bless the good people in our lives.

i was wondering why kind, gentle people who'd give you the
shirt off their back(like your uncle)
are married to such different people (like his wife, your aunt)?
my mother and father were flip opposites of each other.
it sounds like curtis was a wonderful, wonderful man.
almost like a father and mother rolled into one person.
i'm glad you had this great person in your life.
we'd all like to have had an uncle curtis in our own lives.

I appreciate my fiance the most. He has bent over backwards to give me what I have wanted. When I got pregnant and I wanted a house, three months later I got one. Not saying I'm really like spoiled, he just takes very good care of his family. He works constantly to provide a good life for us and our daughter. This man has made sacrifices in order to take care of his family, and is just a wonderful partner, and a magnificant father. I love him very much, and I often tell him how much appreciate what he does for his family.

Hi Chevee,
Your Uncle sounds like a jewel. I think I miss my Dad the most. My mom was so busy trying to raise 9 kids, that she didn't have time for nurturing. My dad was the loving parent. But I miss talking to my mom. Both my parents were amazing people. They both worked hard to raise their children and I know how much they loved their family.

The people I appreciate more in my life are those who are there for me at the hardest times in my life. They are my friends who are always there for me no matter what. I'm so grateful to have them.

Your uncle sounds like a very rare and wonderful person. You were fortunate to have him in your life.
As for the person I appreciate the most, it would have to be both of my parents. My father was a very calm, even tempered man who taught all of his children the value of patience. He also had more common sense that anyone I've known. I never saw anyone put anything over on him. My mother is feisty and cute and oozing with book smarts. She taught us the value of knowledge.

I'm sorry about your mom and uncle, you are very lucky to have to have them in your life. For me, I appreciate my parents a lot. My mom is really ill but she always think about me, she is willing to sacrifice just to be give me my needs, and my father, he is not a college graduate and he doesn't have a permanent job, but they give me support. And he is willing to work even in construction just to give his family what we need and most of all, to be one good example of a good person.
