Almost every year, movie companies release a musical flick. Theres alot of titles that come up, with many different storylines. Theres a gruesome musical movie, a love story, a classical and almost everything you can think of. Almost all of these movies are adapted from their broadway originals. Do you like watching musicals? Do you consider these films to be chickflicks? Whats your all time favourite musical?

Hi! I'm not much of a musical movie person but I've seen few and I like them. I like Mary Poppins and Beyond The Sea (2004, starring Kevin Spacey). I think I'd like to watch Mamma Mia too because the musical trailer was playing almost everytime in the past on two or three different channels. At first I didn't like the song but the more I hear it the more I like it.

I havent seen Beyond The Sea. I hope you will like Mamma Mia. I think its good, Meryl Streep was great in portraying her role. Pierce Brosnan was good as well. Its kinda funny watching the two of them sing and dance. The storyline also nice. All of the songs in the movie were from the Swedish 70s group Abba.

Well, there are many Good musicals out there. One of my All time favorites continues to be "The Sound of Music." But Oklahoma is a good one as well. Eventually I am hoping to see Mama Mia as the people I know who have seen it say it was really worth their time.

Phantom of the Opera is my all time favorite. I saw the 2004 movie version and absolutly loved it! Gerard Butler and Emmy Rossum were great!!! He's very sexyl and they both have really great voices. I listen to the sound track all the time; watch the movie a lot. Can't get enough!
My niece even loves that movie! Has since she was...4 I think; she's 5 now :) She even has the theme song "Phantom of the Opera" memorized word for word! And I never even tried to force the movie on her; she came over one day while I was watching it (it was at the end) and she wanted to watch it all! Of course I didn't let her watch the parts where people get killed, I do close her eyes at bad parts.
What is your favorite musical tidgea, you didn't say! :)

I love Mary Poppins. I haven't seen any of the newer ones you mentioned; honestly I don't really have an interest to see Chicago or Across the Universe, but I would really like to see Mama Mia, it looks really cute.

I havent had the chance to watch phantom of the opera. But I have seen mamma mia. Its funny watching Pierce Brosnan and Meryl Streep sing to the songs of Abba. I love how they connected all of the songs and made a story out of it. Greece as a backdrop for the movie was also quite splendid.

I hate teen musicals I just dont care to them or relate to them and I cant stand them. I perfer musicals like grease and grease 2 which I both love even though a lot of people hated grease 2 but I love it. I would like to see mamma mia since that has a lot of good songs that I like.

Personally I am not a big fan of musicals at all..... My wife wants to see "Mamma Mia" for example but I have been holding off on downloading it because I could honestly think of nothing worse and would probably prefer to pull out my own teeth than watch Pierce Brosnan and Meryl Streep singing ABBA! I like both actors and don't mind ABBA songs either; but who the heck decided to put them all together??? If I did have to come up with one musical movie that I did enjoy it would have to be "Grease!..... It was some time ago with John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John but this one was OK!

Once upon a time it was the best form of film. Nowdays it's mostly useless. I liked Mame with Lucielle Ball but otherwise I hate musicals. It's very weird to have two people talking then one breaks into song.

I havent seen those musicals you have mentioned. Yes,some of my friends find musicals very funny. From ordinary dialogues, the actors break out and sing. My friends laugh when the actors sing out of nowhere. I guess, many people still watch Musicals nowadays. The latest musical that was released was Mamma Mia, and I guess it also has a good amount of gross income.

I love musicals. My favorite ones are older ones, Gigi, Easter Parade, Brigadoon, etc. Since the 1960's there are too many that were just star vehicles and many of the main characters couldn't sing. I really object to putting somebody in a singing role who can't sing (Pierce Brosnan being the latest example). But there are still good ones, JC Superstar, Grease, Chicago, Rent, etc., since the 60's. And more good ones coming out every year.

Yes, I agree. Watching Pierce Brosnan sing and even dance really is funny. The should cast actors that can really carry a tune. Well, I guess they considered his acting prowess more than his singing talent. I am yet to watch those older musicals. I bet they are really great.

I also have many favorite musical movies. But I havent had the chance to see most of the classic musicals... There were only two that I saw, Mary Poppins and The Sound of Music. Most of the musicals I saw were from the 90s upto the present. I absolutely love Across the Universe. I love the songs of the beatles and I liked how they connected all of the songs and made a story out of it. I just love it. I also like Mamma Mia, Chicago, Dreamgirls, Evita and of course High School Musical.

I love musicals! I recently watched Sweeny Todd, I really enjoyed it. My favorites are Mary Poppins, The Sound Of Music and Grease. My favorite musical is the episode of Buffy The Vampire Slayer - Once More With Feeling. I know it is not a movie but I love it!

Of course the answer has to be Grease. I have not seen a musical that can compare to the movie Grease. It will always be my favorite musical I don't think they will ever be able to make a movie that is as good as Grease was. I didn't care for Grease 2 all that well though.

I think Mary Poppins. I dont see Musical movies that often, but that is one that never goes out of style. I just saw Sweeny Todd and thought that was pretty gruesome.
The blood and guts were alittle bit too much for me. I tried not to watch the more gruesome scenes though. I thought they were alittle bit much.

Mary Poppins is really good. Such a classic. Julie Andrews has such great voice. I also love The sound of music which also Julie Andrews. I have also seen Sweeney Todd. Its also an adaptation of a broadway original, and it is really gruesome. Add to that the director of the movie, Tim Burton who always adds some grim into his movies.

The best movie is ยด"High School Musical" :D
But the best musical on the theatre is the musical "Rent" or "We will rock you - Queen Musical"
But a real Musical has to be seen in the theatre
