"jiayou"has been a famous Chinese element through beijing olympic games,u can hear it everrwhere:on the playground,Chinese cry out "jiayou" loudly for their athelets, meanwhile, they use this phrase to comfort the loser.it seems that they are bread-and butter.during the "wenchuan" earthquake, the words all the chinese want to say is that "jiayou, wenchuan"and "jiayou,China".obviously,"jiayou"is fully filled with encourage,pure-heart sympathy and almost all the other positive words.it is intersting that the Chinese translators are puzzled how to thanslate this simple composed but have complicated meaning two characters.
so what do you think of "jiayou"?,and, how do u thanslate it into ur language?
who do u want to say this phrase to?

Translate in Indonesia is means "Semangat" or in english "Spirit". Jiayou is very common word for chinese people to spirit their athlete or someone that having a competition. It's very nice word and it's sound good at our ears. I usually use this word to spiriting my friends.

Hi reva, welcome to mylot and I hope that you have a happy stay here with us. I really don't know how to translate it in my language because we have at least three words for each thing and each one means one thing in each moment. So I can't translate it. Sorry...
Welcome and "jiayou" reva!
