I have been having really bad anxiety attacks over nothing. Just washing the dishes and I have an anxiety attack. At least I think it is an anxiety attack, my heart starts beating real fast, i breathe heavier, and my mind starts having all these thoughts in it at once. How can I stop having these? Is it normal to have anxiety attacks over nothing? Do you or someone you know have anxiety? What do they do to help? Please give me any input.

I have experience with my own anxiety plus a point of view from a nurse as well. I also have studied it in nursing courses and pyschology. Ok, so here it is, usually if someone is having anxiety attacks it can be linked to something. What I mean is doing the dishes may be when it comes about but may not have anything to do with the dishes themselves.
I would start asking myself am I depressed for some reason? Is everything alright with my relationships lately or since this has been happening? I see by your picture that you have a little one are you under some stress worring about being a mommy of your little one.
Try keeping a journal, wirte down what you are feeling when this accurs and also when you are not having one just any thoughts that come to you. You can look for a possible pattern. Let me know how it all turns out.

One of my cousins has it, and she said it was Hell until she took medication and went to theropy for it. She told me that you have to reduce your level or stress, you have to eat better and exercise, and you have to learn how to breathe all over again. The first attack she has was similar to that of a heart attack. She thought that she was dying. My cousin and I are known as the health problem chicks. We seem to always have so many of them. We have both had Depression and Eczema. I have had Allergies, Asthma, four different skin problems, PMS, PMDD, vision problems, weight troubles, problems with my menstral cycle, and immune system issues. I will be lucky if I can ever get health insurance after I graduate college and get a real job.

Hi! I have expereinced that too. I realized i have been drinking too much coffee. So i quit, and started to have a healthy diet. Now i am feeling much better. I went back to drinking coffee but limit my intake. Try to eat foods like whole grain rice, or carbohydrates. I have read that these food groups has a relaxing effect. And chamomile tea too. And don't forget that the most expert advice you can get is from your doctor. He will prescribe medicine and diet suited for you, after you answer sever questions pertaining your health. Because anxiety has so many underlying reasons. It could be hormonal, poor diet, stress, or some psychological reasons such as worries/problems you need to confront and not try to ignore.
I hope this will help. Take care.

I am a worrier but usually the effect is insomnia. I haven't tried having anxiety attacks like you. Could it be that subconsciously you are worried about something? You could pray and really concentrate on the prayer. It clears your mind and gives you hope which is very important since it is sometimes the hopelessness of the situation which makes us agitated. I mean that when you can trust that the problem will be resolved in the best way possible, or if you can accept that the result is really for the best, it gives peace of mind. Do try it.

I have something similar to you two times happen to me. The first time was when a good friend of mine was being a real pest with me and was doing things that were causing me worry and was also being horrible to me.
I had walked away from her because she had said something that really hurt me and all of a sudden my chest became really heavy and my heart started to pound and I was having trouble breathing. I started to panic about it really bad and it started to get worse and then I managed to calm myself down. Then I would think of what she said to me again and off it would go again. I am so surprised that no one noticed because I was having real problems.
The second time was through something another girl did, I was at home and I had just had a phone call from this girl and what she had told me had really upset me. I went into the kitchen and I was upset and my son asked me what the matter was, I tried to tell him and again my heart started to pound, I started to sweat and I was having trouble breathing, it was horrible. If something is worrying you or mithering you, any problems you have big or small can cause this to happen. I think times of stress are definately a factor, and sometimes once it starts people continue to suffer with them. I was lucky in that I have never had one since, but, the problems that I had then have been solved.

It sounds like anxiety attacks but it could be something else, too. You should go to your doctor for a check up and let your doctor decide what would be the best thing for you to do. There are several medications for anxiety but you have to rule out other causes first.

Hi tlb, I used to suffer from panic attacks that would
sometimes just about paralize me. They were very frightening.
Sometimes the attack was worse then the cause. I no longer
suffer, I found out that I have a chemical imbalance that
causes this and I am on medication and I have not had
an attack since. There is no need to suffer. Don't be
scared. If they continue and they might or get worse
go to the doctor. Don't be ashamed because millions of
people have the same problem and it is easily fixed. You
don't have to suffer needlessly. It is a horrible feeling
to feel like your chest is closing in and tightening up
and you can't breathe. I know exactly how you feel.

I have anxiety myself. I have had this for a while now. I do take prescription medication. However I think that one day I might stop taking it. I feel that it is better managed through exercise, eating right and maybe just relaxing. I can understand that it could be easier said than done.
Anxiety isn't anything to be taken lightly. It is no fun. Sometimes you can't control it. You might want to seek some professional help if you can. Sometimes medication could be in order and it could possibly help you. I wish you lots of luck!

this is the kind of thing that you should see your doctor for, there are things they can do to help.if left untreated there is the possibility that they could become more severe and more frequent,i say that not to scare you but to warn you,
