Obama perpetuates Jena 6 Lies on his Website.

"Fifty years after the events in Little Rock, we have the recent events in Jena, Louisiana – with nooses hanging on a tree in a schoolyard and the overcharging of African American teens for a schoolyard fight...." Obama: Creating Equal Opportunity and Justice for All... from Obama's own website. http://www.barackobama.com/issues/pdf/HowardConvocationFactSheet.pdf Obama claims to be a "uniter, not a divider" and has made unity one of his major campaign planks. How can he claim this if he perpetuates lies about supposed hate crime in Jena, LA. With no help from the incompetent press, the facts got out. We learned awhile ago that there was no "whites only" tree on that high school campus. There were nooses hung from the tree, but it wasn't racially motivated. It was done by white students as a prank aimed at fellow White members of the schools Rodeo Team. The prank wasn't inspired by racial bigotry, but by the TV movie, "Lonesome Dove". The fight that the Jena 6 were being tried for had nothing to do with the noose incident, and it wasn't a "schoolyard fight", it was, in fact a situation where the Jena 6 (as well as others) ambushed a white kid, knocking him unconscious and continuing to beat him. This information isn't anything new to most of us, I remember a lot of Mylot articles about the situation, as well as the ones written when the facts started to come to light. Obama's no better than Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and others who work hard and profit well by perpetuating racial problems in the US. Someone needs to tell Obama that his lies speak louder than his empty words of "hope" and "change".

There is absolutely nothing wrong with anything Obama said about the incident. Unless you are a bigoted white person, you would see that the placement of nooses is offensive...witness Golf Magazines infamous cover. Obama's point was that this had no place in our schools and that is undeniably true. All of the 6 have had their charges reduced and Barack hasn't made it a focus of his campaign. I will agree with you on the two reverends though, both Jackson and Sharpton went off half cocked as usual and made a painful and local incident into a national media circus. One does have to wonder if they have the best interest of the children at heart. Don't lump Barack Obama into their class, not only isn't it accurate but it sounds highly racist. Obama made completely accurate and non-inflammatory statements. He's a politician in America and by definition that means he sometimes lies, but in this case he spoke only the reported facts and, as he said, "...I am certain that 9 children did not walk through the doors of a school in Little Rock so that our children would have to see nooses hanging at a school in Louisiana. We have more work to do."

Those nooses were a reference to Rodeos and Western TV movies, not racism. They didn't cause any racial tension at the school, so why do you and Obama want to insert something that wasn't there? The telling part is, there have been a lot of racially motivated situations in this country that Obama would have referred to, but he chose a lie. That says a lot about his character. In politics there are lies and there are times when a candidate just can't keep a promise. If they can't keep a promise due to the fact that no government official in the US has enough power to deliver everything they want, then that's no lie at all. If the politician says something they know to be a lie, then we shouldn't just shrug it off as "politics". One other point, if Obama is out to change "politics as usual" shouldn't we hold him to the standard he claims to be setting?

btw, you do know that The Jenna 6 and the noose incident have nothing to do with each other, right?

Any noose, no matter how innocently displayed is automatically racially offense. Obama stayed true to the reported news. You just seem bent on calling him a liar. Jesse Jackson has admitted to "exaggerating" the truth which is as close as the man is going to get to admitting a lie. Reverend Al never retracts a thing.

For Obama to be called an uniter he must unite something. The question is what has he united, or what put of his plans will unite anyone. If Obama want to carry the water of this Jena lie then he will not be uniting anything. All Obama can hope for is to divide populations against each others. Anyone that has actually studied Obama's plans for his "new" America know that all he will accomplish is to divide Americans against each others.
