I've been wondering for sometime now whether to use vista, xp, linux(ubuntu/opensuse) or mac os x leopard.
Can someone help me in deciding which one to choose?

XP is very very user friendly.
If you are looking for vista it has good interface but it can run "well" only on VERY high configuration.
If you want to stay away or keep protected from viruses you can try Mac or Linux.

i've had all the Operating systems and i can say Windows Xp is the best among all, its fast, yet very durable and the biggest thing is now, at present all the drivers and stuff are completely compactible with windows xp, vista is not still fully compactible for all drivers and softwares.

I can only offer my personal opinion, dont go near Vista. Unless you like downtime from OS crashes.
I would go back to XP from the Vista OS I have now, but Dell wants more money from me to do so.
Customer satisfaction, right.
Im learning how to use a non MS OS now, gonna switch soon.

i will go for XP, and i also started few weeks ago with Service Pack 2, just to see it how will work with it, and currently i do not have any problems ... but if you are planing in buying some new laptop then you will need to go with Vista because as i recall all 90% of hardware that are for laptops are having drivers just for Vista and no other OS, this really sucks

My choice is windows xp because we are all sticked to it with its maximum compatibility and easiness. You may have it as your first choice. And if ur laptop came without the driver cd , then i think its bettet to load Vista as it lloads even the wifi drivers for laptop during the installation itself. For xp , we have to load the drivers seperately as it doesnt provide those drivers.

Hi. Nice to meet you here. I will suggest you to get xp. Actually need to see the performance of your computer too. For me Windows XP is the best os. It dont need too many RAM to get best performance. If you are choosing Windows Vista then you need to make sure that your computer have at least 2gb of RAM in order to run smoothly. Besides, Windows Vista security also too strict. Everytime you want to install something it will ask for permission before you start your installation. I dont really like it. For mac or ubuntu i think they are not user friendly enough for me. So i still prefer t use will Windows XP. Happy myloting!!!

Ok
Windows (of any variant) will work easily on PC only and is easy to install and maintain as there is a lot of support about for them. However you would need to buy the licence.
Linux (in any flavour) will work on any PC also, but it is not as easy to use as it is not supported in the same way. You may find that your programs won't run properly (without some work to get them right). However Linux is free software. You will need some technical knowledge to get the best from it.
Mac OS will not work on a PC without a lot of work. It is possible but it's never that successful. You will need a MAC computer. This opens up a whole seperate discussion as to which is best.
If you know what you are doing then linux is a very good program to use (especially as its free), however I would use XP as it is the most available and supported.

i think XP is the best, linux is also a powerful windows(if u have good knowledge), vista id not tht good option because there are still some bugs in it..
